I like how you have Liberty 2 spots ahead of Richmond, but claim their best player would be horrible playing for us. Also, your rankings don't seem to correspond to anything like wins, postseason success, etc. What informs your perception of the programs?

Looks pretty accurate to me...at least with respect to where we stand, but I am not familiar with most of the programs listed below us.

Darn I thought we'd earn at least a tie with VMI & Liberty in 32's highly reputable ranking system.

This year maybe. I would have had us in 6th, but it doesn't really matter. Mediocre is Mediocre. We should always be in the top 4.

Agree for the most part. Not sure how it plays out, but in the overall picture of rankings Mason defeated us twice this year.

W&M should be ahead of JMU, only because JMU fired their coach and is starting over. Shaver is doing more with less than any other coach in the state.

I'd slide Radford ahead of Longwood, only because they beat Georgetown this season, but that's not saying much.

Yes but only for slots 11-14 in an Irish Pub on Saint Pat's Day.I know it gripes ya that JMU and W&M and even Liberty are ahead of us.Pretty embarrassing.Reality is harsh most of the time.

In the eighties, Virginia would send 5 or 6 teams to the tournament. Now we are down to 1 solid team, 1 play in AQ team and maybe a bubble team every now and then.

4 (tie). ODU & UR
5. William & Mary
6. Mason
7. JMU

Everyone else is low major. Tech really has a bright future with Buzz and I think Mason made a good hire and is trending upward as well. We should be better than ODU, given that ODU plays in a crappy conference, but results show otherwise and Jeff Jones is a good coach.

It doesn't "gripe" me, I just think it's incorrect. If you are basing the decision on head to head performance (i.e., ODU or JMU), then it's incorrect. If you are basing it on likely result playing these teams 10 times each, it's also probably incorrect. I guess that's the nature of a ranking, it doesn't have to be based on any kind of reality contrary to your assertion.

I keep waiting for Ulla to chime in. He will have UR second below UVA, VDU will be below Mason. He will also have an academic rating with UR number one and VDU number 14. Just for fun.

True bb but this ranking I think already met the Just for Fun criteria. Or Just for Provocation.

Since this is a ranking of "programs" not "current state", so I guess this is cumulative over the last 30 years?

I'm sure his history as an alum (first team all-CAA) and former JMU assistant was a significant factor, but still...

Definite early contender for dumbest post of 2016.

Should UNC win the national championship, UR could have a banner for beating Northern Iowa who beat UNC. Not sure if the NCAA has a payout for that. OSC

I think it would be completely justified to make a small mention of this on our Kenpom Top 105 Banner.

If they win, they should have it taken away for the violations of NCAA rules which will be revealed sometime later this year.

ISpider, you may be right, but like losing the pretty girlfriend, you enjoyed it immensely and no one forgets that you once had her. OSC

I thought the violations were found a long time ago. not sure what takes so long to determine guilt/innocence and possible punishment.
