or maybe even because his team is in a power five conference or that his school stood behind him when the fans wanted to get rid of him

I mean, Coach K's first three years at Duke were17-13, 10-17 and 11-17. Since then, his worst full year was 18-13 in 1995. Aside from that, he's never won fewer than 23 games in a season. He's also won more than 30 games in a season FOURTEEN TIMES. So I'm not sure who was calling for him to be fired or when, but I'd say it's not an apt comparison at all.

Eight, you are young so obviously too young to recall that it got close in durham, they wanted him gone and the AD was feeling the heat but stood his ground. just saying, fans are not always the best judge of a coach.

In his first 10 years at U of R, CM has taken the team to the NCAA's 2 times. The last time was 2011. 2011 is starting to feel like a while back, and this year does not not look promising for a bid. Maybe fans can be decent judges when the years go by with the same outcome.

In his first 10 years at Duke, Coach K took his team to NCAA's 7 years in a row. since then he's been every year except 1.

did not start the duke talk and to compare the two is ludicrous, only pointing out that they almost flushed k, the fans wanted him gone but butters, the AD, stuck by him during a tough time.

I realized your intent. I just thought since you brought it up, a comparison was fair game to broaden the discussion. The point was Coach K went to NCAA's 7 times at Duke in his first ten years, and we've been twice in the same 10 years. What would be ludicrous is if a percentage of supporters & fans didn't question that after 10 years in. It's fair game to bring this to the forefront.

In a similar manner to Coach K, Dean Smith was under fire in the first few years he was at Carolina. They actually hung a dummy of Smith outside Carmichael Auditorium after a loss and burned it in effigy. When the team bus arrived, Larry Brown, who was playing for Smith at the time, ripped down the dummy and told the crowd to get lost. The AD stuck with Coach Smith. Glad he did.

I'm not that young, but the point was that if they were calling for his head after three years, that's a little different than people calling for Mooney's head after 11 years.

Eat that stuff up, Eight. I like it if you are called young, because that means that I am young too!

The first question I ask someone when they deny being young is "Where were you when JFK was shot?"
