PreSeason Top 15

Really think the other threads touting top 25 and top 35 are doing us a disservice. How many other teams in the country have potentially 5 1000 point scoring seniors (banking on Cayo here), or even 4 for that matter.

I'm waiting.

We are probably the only team in a P10 conference with close to that firepower returning, so why is the national media dissing us, I wonder. I would say it could be due to having one of a couple coach with longest tenure without an NCAA appearance, but the media seems to love Mooney - so I don't think that is it. Maybe its a result of low exposure the last 8 years? Anyway, I am with the posters that have set our expectation at top 15.

possible reasons we're not ranked higher than top 25:
because the roster isn't made up of top 100 prospects ... the media loves those. because we're a small school in the A10. because part of those impressive scoring totals can be considered a result of instant opportunity for playing time as freshmen on unsuccessful teams. because we did lose 20 games back to back before this year.

I hope you're right and we're being underestimated. I really like what Mooney's built with this roster but I'm not ready to give him as much credit as you yet. we've got to prove we're that good. let's see it first.

How often do preseason polls put mid majors in the top 15? Not how many of those teams were on the bubble the previous year? I’d wager that number is incredibly low and close to zero.

We all view Richmond through a different lens than fans of other teams. Just like we view ourselves getting screwed so do 30-40 other programs. People making polls right now mean nothing. Hell the tournament would literally still be going on right now and nobody would be making predictions for next year.

Dayton this year is better than we will be next year and where were they ranked in preseason polls?

this is a loaded question, how do you define mid major. Gonzaga is a mid major by conference designation - and that seems to be the criteria used by most - and they are in the top 10 all the time now - top 1 in many polls.

Okay 23, let's say that UR replaced Wake in the ACC, take Wake's schedule from last year and give us their record against ACC competition for a 20 game schedule for the coming year. Ignore the OOC schedule for now!

Okay, there are 24 teams other than us in that listing. If we played all 24 (12home- 12 away) what would our record be? The #13 ranking indicates we would be 12-12. How many would take that bet?

Would be tough, but doable. Factor in getting six of the top 12 at home at 6 of the bottom 12 at home. I even think we could steal a few road games from some of the teams below us.

I am going with 20-4, really want to see how we integrate Crabtree before predicting any more W's. I feel 22-2 is possible but EL is just out there with his optimism.

Um so this list says that they considered Vanderbilt for being in the top 25. Am I missing something, yea they were young and should be better this year but they were awful last year? Is there some insane 5-star recruit coming in cause I just can't see them as a top 25 team based off last year.

Come on fellows, we would be even better than this past year. I am very much encouraged by all the metrics I have seen. If we stick together, the sky is the limit for us.. 23-1

They were considered at #3 for alliteration...

Nice to see us one sport ahead of Duke, even if it’s meaningless right now. A better barometer would be our record if we played all those teams home and away. Would we at least go 24-24? I think yes.
