I wish our guys played as hard as VCU. Other than hating them as a rival, I really respect their grit and toughness. We need a lot more of that.

I would settle for our guys trying as hard as Ulla does...

They also play a switching man-to-man. They switch on every screen, just like us. They are ranked 224th in the country in defensive rebounding percentage too, haha, they are very similar to us.

Their defense was good enough to earn a 1 seed. The switching man-to-man scheme can be successful in the game today, even at the highest levels. It has not been 'figured out' and it can be played effectively within the new rules. Kenpom has them as 43rd best defense in the country, which is right about where we were in 2015. Let's hope our team next year can play defense properly. If we can get our defense back into shape and maintain some of the offense we had this past season we will be a good team.

Good earlier point you made about Martelli saying Oregon's defense reminded him of UR. Was also surprised hearing that. From what I saw at least last night, Ducks seem to be running a lot chasing the ball and giving Joe's some good opportunities but 43rd is what it is.

Numbers above are nice but with that ranking of 43rd they also were 11th in offense this year. Plus to go along with that 224th in D rebounding they made up for it at 45th in offensive rebounding.

Here's the kicker to what maybe assisted the Ducks D this year, ranked 3rd in the nation block%. Those guys Bell and Boucher sure clean up mistakes made by others. Thinking what if ANO was here this year? Probably wouldn't have mattered but team for sure wouldn't have been ranked so low nationally at 316th in block%.

I agree UR can win this way. Just unfortunately for CM seems like team is very good at something while very bad somewhere else last few years. Hopefully pieces start coming together next year.
