How far do you see the A10 teams going? Can we (yes I am now rooting for the A10...well not VCU except I would love to see a Shaka/VCU matchup) win the NIT?

I like St. Joes and Dayton in the first round games. Don't see them advancing past that, but think St. Joes could give Oregon a good run. As for the Broad Street, they could be a one seed and I would pick the 16 seed to win.

I think St. Joe's goes to the Sweet 16, Dayton and VCU to the Round of 32. Tough matchup for Dayton with Michigan State in the second round.

Bite your tongue. It doesn't how many showers you take, you can't that Ram odor off of you.

Bonnies will win the NIT.

Duquesne in the CBI? Not a chance.

Fordham will win the CIT.

-St. Joe's will beat Oregon and make the 16
-Dayton will beat Syracuse but lose the next game.
-VCU will lose to the Beavers, and fat boy will lean on his wife for prayers and a large pepperoni to make himself feel better.

Have absolutely no interest in A10 save for our Richmond Spiders. Would bet that save for each school's alumni, no one else cares either. OSC

There are a ton of fans from A10 schools who cheer for their conference mates any chance they get. I am one of those fans, except for when VCU is playing.
2011, the Ulla appreciates your sentiments, but I guess, save for you, I do not know any "A10" fans per se. OSC

Hahaha. . Is that you, WW?? Of course I hope they lose by 50, but Oregon State is no good and their second-best player is not playing. So I am afraid the Beavers will stink.

Isn't that how you get artificial vanilla flavor?

All 3 A10 teams win in the first round. All 3 lose in the second round. The Hawks could've been a S16 team with a better draw.

a10 teams winning = $ for us.
That reminds me I know you get a multi year payout for NCAA, and the others are pay to play, but...
What is the financial situation with the NIT?

I believe the way the math works on the money with the A10 schools is that the team that earn the units gets roughly 75% of the money. We split the remaining 25% with the other 12 schools.

By my math, we get $25k over 5 years ($5k per year) for the each game the other A10 teams play. Peanuts. VCU gets $1.1m for each game they play and we get $25k. The divide widens further.

We need to start earning some of these damn units for ourselves again.

So you're saying that from this year's tourney, we'll get enough money to hire an assistant coach who understands the principles of rebounding?

That pays for the tshirts and rubber balls the cheerleaders throw. :)

I'm another more A10 wins the better the chances for more A10 teams in the future.

Vandy just showed why St. Bonnie should have been in.

Likewise the loser of the Michigan - Tulsa game tonight will also show why the Bonnies should have been included, although the game might be closer than the Shockers pasting Vandy because both teams play at a frenetic pace............

Agree. Beating any of MIch St, Oregon, and Oklahoma will be a tough task. Think St Joe's has the toughest 1st round matchup. VCU got a break with coach's son I guess out plus with their D probably will contain Payton.

More I look at bids, I mean the RPI (never fully understood it) not used by the committee in a fair, logical way. Forget that Tulsa screwed Bonny, but Cuse with RPI of 72 loses in 1st round of ACC tourny and 9-9 in conference. So they did beat Bonny and I guess early wins over T A&M and UConn helped but nobody along with Bonny were better than them?

I've always thought a 500 record or lower in conference should disqualify any team.

Among many other things, I don't believe they look at your RPI to see how good you are, but do look at your opponents RPI to see how good they are.

Not to say that I don't agree that SBU should have been in by many measures.

I think you're right, and that is totally nonsensical and maddening. What it means, theoretically, is that any team that beat Bona can claim a top-30 RPI win, which in a vacuum could have been the win that pushed that team into the tournament (potentially VCU and Syracuse, for example). Yet Bona ends with a 29 RPI and gets no credit for that itself. It only benefits teams with WORSE RPIs who happened to beat them.

How messed up is that system??

After all that crying about St. Bonnaventure, they lose tonight at home to some high school team called Wagner. 79-75 in the NIT.

Sucks for them, but I'm guessing that their hearts weren't in it. That happens to NIT teams sometimes. Hard to get up for that first game when you know you should have made the tourney.
