Undefeated with Coach Fezz in the stands this year. Coincidence?Didn't totally fold down the stretch. Fezz was there. Not sure whether it was instant Karma or he was shouting directions from the stands. Either way, a Spiders victory feels good!!!

Not sure barely beating an extremely mediocre team warrants thatLast 4 in.
Fezz needs to be on the bench, making sure coach dressed properly.Didn't totally fold down the stretch. Fezz was there. Not sure whether it was instant Karma or he was shouting directions from the stands. Either way, a Spiders victory feels good!!!
He never said what it was last 4 into. Not sure barely beating an extremely mediocre team warrants that
This one never gets old. Oh wait, yes it does.If we hang on to win, does Mooney get an extension?
The Richmond announcers called the Wofford run with about 6 minutes left. Bob Black said this is where this team folds. Beckwith agreed. We were up about 14. Lo and behold, the lead shrunk to 2. Beck told exactly what they should do- throw it to Golden, which they did.
The ESPN announcers (one of which played at Wofford I believe) mentioned time after time about Richmond's struggles closing out games. I think Gilly reading the board now , he seemed to be very very judicious about going for steals yesterday. Almost had the record on that deflection that went out of bounds.I heard that too. Was really (pleasantly) surprised as the usually stay so positive all of the time. And I know most every Spider fan was thinking it.
Heard that as well - thought what a word choice as formal defintion is to disembowelWe just got a shout out from the announcers! They said "after the Spiders lost those games in the Bahamas they were eviscerated on their message boards" ohhhhh man I wish I had a recording of it.
The last 6 minutes wasn't the problem this game. The bad stretch was from 11:00 to just under 6:00 when Wofford hit 4 3s and went on a 20-8 run to pull within 6. After that, we closed the game on a 12-9 run, including Grant, Grant again, and Tyler with huge buckets on 3 straight possessions in the final 2 minutes. The only 3s we took the last 6 minutes were back to back 3s on one possession with over 5 minutes left, so we took none the final 5 minutes.I’m just glad we won that game.
But what the hell was our offense the last 6 minutes? Is our strategy to keep a lead just run clock and Jack up 3’s every possession? We should have closed that game out much easier.
Huh? We went inside repeatedly in the last 4 minutes of the game.I’m just glad we won that game.

Did you see the game?Huh? We went inside repeatedly in the last 4 minutes of the game.
Yes, their 5 minute run happened. And, the other 35 minutes we outscored them 65-44. We were 8-18 from 3, and they were 6-19, yet, what you take away from a game we win is we jack up bad 3s and hope they miss their 3s? Unreal.Apologies to the Pom-Pom squad for mixing up when the 6 minute meltdown was. It doesn’t invalidate the fact that it happened and that our defensive strategy of “hope they miss” and offensive strategy of “Jack up bad 3s” isn’t very effective.
Maybe Mooney will figure it out in year 18. Extend him though right? Such a great coach he makes Richmond so proud
We scored on 5 of 6 possessions from the 4 minute mark to just inside the 1 minute mark, on Grant's runner, 3 layups, and a FT. Not sure how anyone could have a problem with that.

you realize that pretty much all 3's taken are kind of open, right? I mean, who's taking tightly contested 3's? that's a bad shot. For reference, Wofford missed a ton of wide open 3's early on. It wasn't because we were guarding them tight and they missed them, no they just didn't fall.

our guys get open 3's too. and we hit 44% of them last night. I'll take that all day.
LOL. So typical. I think it's the other way around. I think way too many on here ignore the good, and focus on the bad. We went 8- 18 from three, and they went 6-19 from 3., but you focused on the 10 we missed, and the six they made, and act like three point shooting was an issue last night. Laughable.the Pom-Pom squad again changing the facts to fit the narrative. Nine minute run, not 5 minute run. You willfully ignoring the bad to focus only on the good is just incredibly poor analysis. If your takeaway was that we are incredible and this was an easy win where we fired on all cylinders then we are both wasting our time.
I guess he expects a shutout. I mean, we held them to 6-19 from 3 and 64 total points, well below their averages in made 3s and points scored, and we still hear non stop complaining. His latest response is "why even try to play defense"? Unbelievable.I'm saying their 3's weren't all wide open. even during their hot streak. we defended.
Wofford's a decent team and they hit 6-19 (31.6%) from 3.
we hit 8-18 (44.4%).
yet the complaints the day after a win are that we just jack up bad 3's and hope they miss open ones.
to quote Joe Biden ... come on, man.
this is the wrong game to repeat that narrative.
And buy him hair product for Xmas!Fire Mooney
...for winning his last game...Fire Mooney
Question: am I pom-pom squad for simply pointing out that you were completely inaccurate in your recounting of our offensive strategy in the last 5 minutes of the game? Just want to know where I stand here.
