Lol some one has got to clean up Monroe Park!!These VCU people need to go back to their homes:
This is getting good - Rama Lama Ding Dong may be onboard soon..................Don't pay too much attention to RamSack guys. If we do, we might find that RichardRam will be here soon.
I felt like Bernie Sanders, we got a couple free shirts each. Many people that showed just left them. How many of those red shirts did you guys take home?
97 , I watched two players for 4 years who couldn't do what little bit JJ did tonight.Julius makes 1 good play and suddenly he is A 10 worthy. Ok.
^^^^ Exactly. Julius is getting more comfortable. He took 7 shots tonight. Big step fwd getting him in the offense.
I think JJ can be a nice player, he clearly needs to get more touches and build his confidence. For what it's worth, he has a very good sense of how to work in the base D, which is better than many of our players.Look Julius is a freshman so he has a long way to grow. I like that he showed some aggressiveness last night, but he has also has terrible shooting mechanics. So, yes, if you definition of an A-10 "worthy" or A-10 "caliber" is Trey and Deion, than yes, Julius is that. He is an A-10 caliber player for a mid level 8-8 A-10 program, if we want to be a program that is a Top 4 program, than Julius is probably at best a good bench player on a team. If he becomes a starter for us, than it just like Trey or Deion starting for us.
Not trying to diminish what was his best game of the year last night. His little crossover and draining of the 2 was a nice play and he competed hard for a lot of rebounds, but not enough pure basketball talent in my mind to show that he is some long term answer for us.

I don't hate his shot mechanics. He's clearly a set shooter, not a jump shooter, so that doesn't look as pretty and could hamper him, but his 3pt shot always looks to me like it's got a solid chance of going in. Results do indicate otherwise of course...
His feet are pointing in the wrong direction and he shoots flat footed, that is what I was referred to. It is not a sweet smooth stroke, like SDJ or MW has, the type of stroke that would enable a player to be a really good shooter.
He does seem to have a good sense of when to hit the cuts to the hoop that exceed what I expect of a freshman though.
As long as the shot falls I don't care how pretty it is. JJ's shots haven't fallen very often though. I like his play around the rim and I don't think his shots look too bad.
He is shooting 13% from 3 from the year and 28% from 2, so it isn't falling. You also haven't watched him in person, so it might be difficult to see his feet and how they typically are not set right.
He is shooting 60% from 2 which is second highest on our team and 80% from the FT line. If you want to see someone with terrible lower body mechanics on their shots look at Steph Curry.

X2He is 6 for 10 from 2 and 5 of those 6 are lay-ups. He has knocked down 1 jump shot from 2 point land all year. So read into those stats what you will. He is 3-23 from 3.
97, you got vd....u? OSCThe avatar does not do the picture justice. Classic mouth breather.
He has a hell of an arc on that 3 point shot though.I think it's safe to say the sample size doesn't support either his good 2pt% number, nor his poor 3pt% number.
I still like the look of how JJ plays. I hope he sees some court time down the stretch here and can show a bit of his game, whatever that may be.
97, a lot of coaches teach turning the feet now. it's not old school, but it's not wrong either. I have my kids do it too. If you watch most of the really good shooters out there today, most have their feet turned. shoulders are still square. Julius' form is fine, with a quick release. he came in with the reputation of a shooter. we haven't seen it yet, but sample is limited so I'll reserve judgment. he played with more confidence this game, which was nice to see.
97, appearances do matter. Your avatar has put you out of sight. OSCS-man. I hope your right. From my perspective, he has a less than ideal shooting stance and form which will limit him. But, I do agree small sample size and Julius like a lot of freshman plays not to make a mistake a lot of the time on the court. I hope as he gets comfortable, we will see him be more assertive, as he was last game. He is a strong for a freshman, really cuts well in our offense, and I don't see him getting abused on defense too much, so there is potential.
There is some good news is the freshmen walkons will get a lot of playing time and we won't have to wait a year or two to see how good they are.
