Slipped in the parking lot tonight before the game and got a mild concussion - never have seen the parking lot cleared so poorly. Then I had to watch the first half, where Peyton Aldridge, to whom we offered a scholarship, scored 18 points because we couldn't stop a 6-8 player inside. Then I had to watch us play offense like we just came off Christmas break. If we had gotten into an offensive flow, we could have won. We were out-coached by Bob McKillop, who was offered the Richmond job and turned it down before we hired Ol' Jer. I still have hope that we can get better - but we could have just as easily lost by 25 tonight as we did by 8. Time for the coaching staff to coach these kids up; time to play more kids; and time for Marshall Wood to learn to play defense and to stop thinking and just SHOOT. The only thing we can do now is finish well. So let's finish well. Our seniors and our fans deserve it.

Stork, hope you're okay buddy!

Deion Taylor, 2 rebounds, 1 steal. Aldridge and others ate up this "defensive specialist". Didn't score even though he was left unguarded all night.
Marshall Wood, 6 rebounds, 2 steals. Didn't score because he was closely guarded all night.

Who's the greater liability?

Taylor even deflected a ball in the basket for Davidson while trying to block after a foul. So he actually scored -2 points.

I just don't understand this at all. MW can't succeed by playing a few minutes, then coming out. And for what? They dared DT to shoot all night and aside from that one hustle board, I didn't really see much. You can tell the second he gets the ball, he is looking to get rid of it as quickly as possible. Not to mention I want to vomit when I see DT throwing up 3 balls..

I am going to beat what should by now be a dead horse, but you cannot have two players hanging around the 3 point line for kick out passes that cannot shoot. In part because, yes teams do double team TA and JC in the post.

3 against 5 with a very short bench (including in & out strategy with the potential shooter) is not a recipe for winning big-time in college basketball. Everybody except for the decision-maker knew this prior to the start of the season.

Buckingham, Sherod, and Golden are coming in next fall... The days of five-on-three will be over, I believe. Let's restart the season by winning the 1st half of the next game! Glad that the T-D reported this morning that Mooney mentioned a sense of urgency in the first half of games. That would be progress!

And there you go being logical again:D.

Want to guess who starts next game & every game the rest of year?

Yet status quo prevails. The decision-maker likes constants.

Positive outlook: everyone can stop getting so upset when we lose this year. The only games that matter now are the ones we play in Brooklyn.
Well, you are correct, but that's sad because it indicates the contingency plan to post season is now in play.

Rose colored? How long after the game do you have to claim the free pizza from the half court shot? And Stork that mild concussion is the worst thing I have ever heard from a Richmond basketball game that happened to a fan - trust you are okay?

spider fan - Thanks for the concern. Will see an orthopedic doc on Feb. 18th. Dropped Keith Gill an email to comment on the snow in the parking lot before the game. It's difficult when you dodge ice just to slip on black ice.

As it is now, that's a fact!! Play the youngsters and let's see what we have!!!!!!

I would rather TD and DT Use their 10 fouls going hard to the basket when no one is on their side of the court. Now they just waste them fouling the guy that just blew by them on defense.

Glad you're doing okay. So how quickly did Keith Gill get back in touch with you?

With all due respect to Stork (hope you're ok), I thought the lots were cleared pretty well and I thought they did a good job of making the RC accessible. Anytime you get a big dump of snow like that, it's going to create problems that require all of us to exercise reasonable caution.

I saw a lot of good things out of the team tonight. I also saw a defense that got picked apart when we know we can run better alternatives.

Coach needs to see what everyone else sees.

TBone, to Mooney's credit he did say the Defense Sucked in his interview with Bob Black. I paraphrased a bit. :)

I couldn't bring myself to listen. Did he indicate a change forthcoming? That's really the only answer.

You know better than that. Of course not.
I just don't understand what he's got to lose. Time to experiment.

And speaking of experimenting, kudos for starting Marshall. Thumbs down for giving him only 21 minutes when he was 2-3 from 3.

Agree, nothing to lose by experimenting.
