I will be jumped about this but these guys did play hard, there was effort, but GW did somethings
in second half and showed our weaknesses:

- cover the shooters, MW cannot drive and cannot handle the ball, he is a standstill shooter and ball handling and foot skills will be something he really needs to work on in the off season

- Trey and Deion just cannot be a threat, and I cannot explain it but Trey's defense has really gone
down hill with reach ins and not moving his feet.

- Julius and Kwan showed that they can be and will be contributors.
- Terry was needed in last of half of second half and he either never saw the ball or got it and could not handle it
- SDJ is looking tired at this stage and is not the same player he was early in the season. Maybe the subbing pattern is taking a tole on him.
- I hope we can be inspired the rest of the way, but Dayton for senior night is going to be a tough, tough act
- I don't remember once seeing us move into a zone even when foul trouble was creeping up.

We finish regular season 14-16 and a very promising season ends with one of the worse February finishes in memory without injury issues and starting all seniors and juniors. I am hopeful but I am going to look for heart and effort, but don't expect any miracles. Don't give up guys, but it is just not your year.

That's a long post for someone that has moved on to baseball and spring football.
Mo you were not suppose to remember that. I thought this team would have caused you to kill a few brain cells
One of the posters changed my perspective on being a fan, so I felt I needed to stay and see it through.

On the way home from the game listening to the post-game with the Coach and the broadcast team, you would have thought with all of positives being tossed around that we had won.

I hear you. I want to be a good fan but I really just want this season to end.

We've got a sparkling building and we play in a good league and we need inducements like free tee shirts and student giveaways to get people out there. It just doesn't have to be this difficult. The whole thing is incredibly stale.

Guys played hard tonight. Effort was much better than last weeks two games. Rebounding was about equal, defense was better in first half, not as good in the second half. Too many turnovers for us, and foul shooting continues to be poor. We lost tonight because we didn't hit enough shots. Can't believe we are 14-13. Oh well, at least my second favorite team won (that is whoever plays RPI). Glad to see their at large chances take a severe hit.

The season is history, everyone agrees. No way we win more than one game in A-10 Tourney, if that. I say bench the seniors, play the under class guys.

I saw probably 4 50-50 balls that we half heartedly went after and Gw got. Also saw about 5 empty possessions in a row when we needed a score where we either had a careless turnover or just a bad rushed shot. So yeah, we played hard but as far as being mentally dialed in and going after it like we really wanted, I just didn't see that

If the AD wanted to do us a solid, they would have put the vcu / mason game up on the big screens in The Rob with about 2 minutes to go.

I would have stayed until the final buzzer had they done it. The timing would have worked perfect...RPI goes down leading right into the first word following the game with CM!

AD has to work even harder to get fannies in the seats because the product on the floor can't do it.

Defense sucks and the offensive scheme is boring. This isn't 1954 in Hickory, Indiana.

Everyone does. Fundraisers. Marketing staff. Ticket sellers. All of their jobs should be way easier than they are now.

Sorry to say it Mo but there is 1 guy who is not fulfilling his role. The donors put up the money, the admin spent the money and made the commitment and its a bust at this point because of a poor coach.

The shocking thing from this season is that there really is no excuse. At least in the past few seasons - Mooney and company had the following excuses to lean on

1) Rebuilding after back-to-back NCAA appearances
2) Injuries - Ced Lindsay injury comes to mind
3) Bad Luck - Charlotte double technical in A10 tourney

This year - no major injuries all season long. No games with terrible calls. We certainly are not rebuilding 5 years later. Bad scheduling - don't think so, this was a good schedule and OOC record put us in a very position for a bid. This is just a fall flat on your face collapse. No way around it.

And I don't see how next year is any better. How do you lose your best player, and probably 1st team all A10 in Allen (he is still averaging 18 points and 8 rebounds. And we lose Davis - yes, it might be addition by subtraction because Davis is limited on offense, but I just have this icky feeling Davis might be one of those guys you miss when he is gone because only then do you really realize how valuable he is. Taylor - honestly, not too worried about replacing him - but the overall point is - we play 7, lose 3, with one being our best player - and we are suppose to make the NCAA next year riding the back of reserves who barely played this year or frosh that rarely play under Mooney. It just doesn't look good for next season. NIT at best.

Have you been watching Trey davis all year? whole lot of empty minutes. He used to at least be a really good rebounder and slasher but he hasn't done either we'll all year

Next year is going to be difficult. We are going to have to play freshmen, but I think Monte and Sherrod may be able to hold their own. Hopefully both will be as good as advertised, but they are still freshmen. What is really concerning is our interior players. TJ is good, no question. Past that we have MW who is a perimeter big, PF who will have no experience because he doesn't play, and Grant, who is a freshman. I think it's much tougher for big men to contribute as freshmen than guards. We really need a 5th year transfer to help us on the inside.

Stayed to the bitter end. We are really not the same team that started the year. TJ and TA are exhausted and SDJ has multiple nagging injuries. If I'm Mooney I only run one play from the 8 minute mark.......KF take the ball to the rim.

What's the deal with him slashing to the backboard and throwing it as hard as he can against the glass and rim. Never seen anything like it.

97 you are right. He just does not seem himself. I wonder if there is something going on in his life off court.
He use to be the bend over and slap the court player and now he is making silly freshmen type fouls and may
lead the team in fouling out. He is not the same player.

This has to be the biggest disappointment of a season in a long while, especially after a promising start. We are toast this year and I dont see it getting better soon unless Mooney can start to bring in some consecutive recruiting classes. Next year I think if we are .500 that would be an achievement. Just gonna be too inexperienced.

What happened to Shawndre? He's not even looking to shoot and score the last few games?

Mooney will still be cashing those $100,000.00 a month checks all year long!!

at least I can fool myself into thinking next year can be the start of something good with the players we have coming in and have very few expectations going into the season. The opposite of this year when we had expectations of having a team that could make the ncaas

As Andy of Amos n Andy used to say to his old friend, George "Kingfish" Stevens...
"I is regusted."

I know the popular refrain around here is to be pessimistic about next year, but I'm actually more excited about it (granted, we've been burned by that in the past). But we've got a good core with TJ, SDJ, and Fore. And Mooney will be forced to use guys like JJ, JP (I hope he stays), PF, the freshmen more and more since DT and TD will be gone. Yes, losing TA will hurt but that's basketball.

All y'all can be negative but I'm going to be hopeful and expect to see some (forced) coaching shakeups and a better rotation in '16-17

I have to agree, we will be losing 2 negatives and 1 positive. With the kids we have coming in, I look at that as a net gain for next year. I honestly think we will be a better team next year than this year. Not great, but better.

Why were not the same team some ask and why some players seem not enthused is the system the coach has drained them. If you notice when we was clicking on offense our bug 3 got plenty of touches and it was open to play there types of game. Players disconnect if not priority in offense..4 ppg to 6 ppg guys getting too many shots before your big 3.

TA got plenty drop down iso plays we just gave to him straight off to let him work. Now he has to wait and let ball work it's way to him...so he's not into offense as much.

TJ playing well but he'll get ball more than other three just because he's at high post playing the passer. Still think he's better on the puck n pop.

Sdj has injuries that's evident but without the ball making plays he's faded..it seems like this year he not getting the kick out shots he's gotten fresh n soph years. He's at his best attacking off the pick n roll.

The offense we run takes rythym and touches away from our gest players and often come up empty with them sighing in frustration from not getting their touches.

An NIT next year would be an improvement at this point.

Maybe Mooney thinks if he can build his way out of this mess he'll look better. Much like Ernie Grunfeld with the Wizards, he creates a mess, then works his way out of it and says "see? I worked my way out of a disaster - give me a contract extension". Then the same cycle starts all over again.

Wish we weren't playing on Tuesday next week. Tuesday night is my poker night, and right now I'm leaning towards poker.....

It all goes back to the coach, conditioning requirements were not good enough, not playing JJ and others earlier in the year, etc etc.

Brutal season no question about it. Mooney has to take some blame for it for a number of reasons but at the end of the day the players have to make plays. If they're just not good enough, which is my opinion, that is on the staff for recruiting them. However, it takes no talent to play hard. We played harder last night because TJ, Kwan, and JJ want it and got more minutes last night. Some of the other guys just seem to be going through the motions. Someone earlier mentioned 50/50 balls - there was one right in front of me that Shawndre didn't get when MW tipped a rebound to him. I have no idea how he didn't get it but he didn't and then he committed a stupid foul. I'm not a big fan of criticizing 18-20 year old kids but these guys that are supposed to be our leaders have let the team down. I'm sure this is not how they expected their UR careers to end but at least go down swinging. Have some damn pride.

On the way home from the game listening to the post-game with the Coach and the broadcast team, you would have thought with all of positives being tossed around that we had won.

Every Mooney interview is super positive. Of course we don't want him spewing negativity, but I kind of hate listening to him. Where's the sense of urgency? The frustration with a season falling short? The accountability of players and coaches for the lack of development? Either he believes all the positive things he says (problem), or he's BSing the audience (problem).

Because he presents everything so positively, there's no indication of intent to change anything. That's what drives many of us nuts.

I'm ready for a more emotional, honest, introspective approach. Current results are not acceptable.

Pretty sure some of our players have lost interest in the season. Can't blame them honestly, I've lost interest in watching them and judging from the half empty sell out last night a lot of other people have as well.

Players who have lost interest should not be on the floor but rather sitting on their fannies!
