Just like Jimmy Sharpe, Bill Dooley (twice) and Mickey Matthews on the football side years ago.We broke Fran
Beware: lose to Richmond get fired or retired
Honestly, it may have. That team we beat was really good. Just finished up wining the Big 10 conference, starting caliber NBA player on their roster. One of the knocks on his resume was not winning in the NCAA's.
4 of 5 coaches we beat are now gone from our magical '22 run
1) Matt McCall - Mass - already was fired but almost beat us
2) Mike Rhoades - probably 90% of VCU fans are glad he moved to (Un) Happy Valley
3) Anthony Grant - close to being on hot seat
4) Bob McKillop - Couldn't take losing to us and retired shortly thereafter.
5) Fran McCaffery - probably not a good sign last year when his son transferred
damn - good point - corrected to reflect David Cox who was fired I guess after our game?We beat URI 1st rd not umass
Gkiller, is Bryce Drew on the list?

Villanova folks are saying that Odom is on the interest list, so will be interesting to see if there is any mutual interest. Would think Odom would prefer ACC because of his Dad, but Big East is obviously a basketball only conference now so could be more appealing.
So a Philly opening for a Philly guy?
GK, you need to add Bucky McMillen to your list, does more with less talent than any other Coach I see.
Kruger out at UNLV after four seasons without an NCAA bid.
We've been on a merry-go-round of coaches out here for quite some time.Kruger out at UNLV after four seasons without an NCAA bid.
Some schools don't mess around with hopes for the next year then the next year, etc.Kruger out at UNLV after four seasons without an NCAA bid.
Fair enough.... but it's also not helpful to be on a treadmill of not getting it right every three years. Some schools don't mess around with hopes for the next year then the next year, etc.
Whoa, how about this...the greatest three-point shooter in Spider history moving from "chief strategist" at SMU to Radford head coach.
It’s been a decade! How is it possible that Zach Chu has been gone long enough that he is now ready to be a head coach? Wow I'm old.
This is fascinating.Whoa, how about this...the greatest three-point shooter in Spider history moving from "chief strategist" at SMU to Radford head coach.
Lineburg is well known name in sports world in western part of the state.Had not realized the Radford AD is the brother of former Spider football coach (including a season as interim HC after Latrell got the boot) Wayne Lineburg.
“He’s almost like a player-coach of the scout team,” Chris Mooney, head coach, said after practice in the Robins Center. “Because he’s a senior and has such as good understanding of the game, we want him to be a little bit of a coach on the floor. As a guard, he’s on the court calling the plays. He’s making the decisions.”
He seems like our best recruiter. Which is perhaps a dubious distinction as measured by this year but still something. You think the Giper is ready to leave the nest and start climbing the ladder?
Imagine he does well there. 3-4 years at Radford and then taking over the spiders program as a possibility? Wonder if we would play Radford while he is HC. Has Mooney ever gone up against a former player who is a head coach before?
Count him on the Mooney tree.

Zach Chu, '15
If you don’t see Zach Chu, '15, on the floor much during Spider games, that doesn’t mean you don’t see his contributions.news.richmond.edu

True. I will say at UR we get it right every 6 & 1/3 years. Not good enough for real fans, but plenty good for Q & H.Fair enough.... but it's also not helpful to be on a treadmill of not getting it right every three years.
