Some interesting stuff in his postgame comments. He was pretty candid, at least for him. Said that we may abandon his trademark defense and that maybe other teams have figured it out (ya think?) So he will be looking at all options this summer. Said that Jesse is a good player and working hard, but that Khwan's emergence is the reason he hasn't played. Said he wasn't sure about postseason (I took it to mean that he was sure and that we wouldn't be playing anywhere, which I hope is the case). Also said we will consider all avenues for new players, whether HS or transfers.

The A-10 network posts the postgame comments online and on Facebook, so check it out when it is posted if you missed it.

JOC also asked TJ point blank if he was planning to return, and his response was "I'm not going anywhere."

Good summation and yes, a good Q&A.

I also interpreted his comments about postseason the same way. This season sucked. Let's just move on.

Good Stuff EightLegger. A little ray of light that the coach is considering some changes finally. Also like the comment about exploring all avenues for players. Will be interesting to see who comes back and any new additions beyond RunDMB, Sherod, and Golden. IMO, we do need to add an experienced big man if at all possible, and let him play inside. I am all for having skilled big men that can hit shots, but it is really just ignoring one facet of the game not to have a threat inside.

Please don't accept a tournament I've had enough. TJ is the heart of this team, I'd really like the team to reward him with a good season next year.

PS I hope he also relooks at the teams off season conditioning. Our players don't seem to be in the best basketball shape and they tend to lose their shot the longer they are here.

I know it's somewhat pointless to post here but..

Kale Abrahamson - 6'8 grad transfer (presumably) from Drake via Northwestern just become available... seems to be more of a big in the form of MW (i.e. tall lanky streaky shooter) but would fit our system and should be fine academically... averaged 11 and 3 this year but had some 20+ games for them...

I'm missing where it said he graduated...

We need a big guy who can rebound and play defense. We already have TJ to play the point-forward

Per Jeff Goodman from ESPN he is graduating...

Played 2 years at Northwestern, sat a year, played a year at Drake.

2nd transfer and looks like he got benched towards the end of the year are red flags though.

Desparately need an aggressive 6'8" guy with a high motor who can jump out of the gym; shooting is optional. The Spiders need some fire and an enforcer. OSC

I'll take someone like Holloway, the freshman center at UMass. 6'11" and 335 pounds. Be sure and watch him in the tournament. Fun.

Agreed. Every other team in this league can recruit guys who are just physically large and not completely incapable of playing basketball. Could we try that once? We have done a great job at recruiting the least physically imposing players we can find for years...maybe change that approach up a little?

Will give the benefit of the doubt on abandoning the trademark defense. However history is a good indicator of the future. Will believe change when it happens.

I can't buy the JP benching due to KF's emergence. Is it really KF or JP? Are there not opportunities for both...maybe more for KF. KF is the real deal, and I love watching the dynamics he brings to our team. But JP gets practically no time from about mid-season or there about???? There's not a few minutes a game for JP's skills? I still think there's more to that story.

Agree there is a desperate need. I think 16-16 makes it highly unlikely that you get a quality big man for 1-year. Who would make that choice, what would be in it for them?

Lasalle aparently has three transfers eligible next year that are supposed to be good and word is they may contend. How good is Lasalle this season?

Are players allowed to transfer within conference? Even if it's a graduate transfer?

No, he means LaSalle has three transfers of its own who will play for them next year. All are from P5 schools, two are big forwards.

I don't think there are any restrictions on intra-conference for grad transfers. I know the departing coach doesn't get to sign off -- transfer eligibility is automatic as long as the student transfers to a graduate program not available at the original school.

I think that's right...grad transfers can go anywhere and play immediately. I remember hearing that if you transfer within the league, you have to sit out two years though. I don't know if that is a league-by-league rule or for all of NCAA.

Considering UR doesn't have much in terms of graduate programs, we may be screwed as far as that goes.
