We've done these sort of polls before, but I wanted to have a straight forward poll to determine support.

Have zero depth now. Starters get all the minutes and scoring points. Bench is just a bench.

I can't see us willing any games unless we are 20+ points ahead with under ten minutes left in the game. With all starters (except Cayo who can't stay out of foul trouble) averaging 35 minutes or so, they are just too tired near the end. We will never win the A10 tournament when we have to play 4 straight days.

I'm fine admitting that he still has my support. And here's why:

It's impossible to simultaneously support the players while not supporting the coach. I want Mooney to be around here for another 15 years. If he is, they're doing well.
We all would want him around another 15 years IF HE WAS DOING WELL. But he isnt and hasnt been for a long time.

No it’s not. If the coach leaves the team stays (may be not all the individual players). But the team will be Spiders. It’s past time me for change

The 7 people who voted yes are either scared of change or have tremendous access to Mooney that they don't want to see disappear.

I wasn’t one of the 7, but some people just hate to see a nice guy get fired. They are letting their emotions
rule their decisions rather than reality. Nothing wrong with that, but why let Mooney suffer with the
reality that a change is inevitable.

I think you can definitely distinguish between player support and coach support. A very good chance at that will be when they attempt to celebrate Mooney's win total. Let's please show disapproval. This is our best chance.

Come on. I just signed on and voted and mine is number 60. Yes, we all care that much. Are you number 7? I'm no troll. I'm out of the closet, but this guy must go and he must go soon and allow this area's basketball to be exciting and strong again. The A10 needs it.

Enjoy having you on the board! I guess Mooney is under performing so much that even VCU fans have our support :)

He does about as well as can be expected. The nature of men's college basketball has changed so dramatically over the past decade or so that it really just isn't a fit for a school like Richmond anymore. Thirty or forty years ago, I think Mooney is the sort of guy who could have had a very successful run. But the conditions that allowed a guy like Dick Tarrant to thrive just don't exist today.

Wrong!

Sorry - just not buying that. Not giving a pass on "The nature of men's college basketball has changed so dramatically over the past decade or so that it really just isn't a fit for a school like Richmond anymore."

Dick Tarrant could take the teams we've had with Mooney at the helm and do better. DT was a true leader. It is more the man than the situation or condition.

There's absolutely no reason why a quality coach can't put together a sound staff, recruit enough quality players, and teach them a good working systems to win. We've sunk plenty of resources into the program, and the pay is attractive to obtain a winning coach, and have a successful team that can compete for conference championships & get to the NCAA's on a reasonable basis.

Welcome aboard, Lia!

Now there’s a non-sequitur for the ages. Lots of counter-examples but Mike Rice Jr at Rutgers is the paradigm.

ShaferFano4 is the new moniker for KOASS who was recently given "time off" from this board.
If you need proof, check out his recent posts on the Off Topic Board.
He is merely a troll and has no affiliation as either a fan or alumnus of UR.
He gets off by stirring dissension.
FRS, you should take back your "like" of his post because based on the lack of intelligence exhibited in his posts I'm pretty sure that he went to JMU.

Explain Davidson.

We have made Mooney a complacent multi-millionaire and he has lost the desire to succeed. All we asked in return was an NCAA bid every 3 or 4 years. The chances of him doing that in the foreseeable future are nil. Time for him to go coach some DIII ball.

This is such nonsense.

Now this is about the ......st post I've ever seen on any board and I've even been to the GooMoo board. .

Mooney should at this point be aimed at winning the A-10 tournament. He should be playing everyone on the bench to try and find 3 guys that can help in those last four games. I think his job depends on it.

Are you inferring that Rice and Mooney exhibit the same behavioral patterns?
I’m pointing out that you can support the team and not support the coach as anyone with English as a primary language can deduce from reading the entire comment which mentions the words “non-sequitur,” “paradigm” and “counter-examples.” No fair reading compares Mooney abysmal performance with Rice’s brutality.

I agree but I think at this point and with 10 mil in the bank CM has bailed it in and may be hoping they fire him so he can take advantage of the golf membership he has year round.
