DOLAN NAMED SOCON OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE MONTH FOR MARCH

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After several outstanding performances for the Jacksonville University men's lacrosse team during the month of March, sophomore Jack Dolanwas named Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Month, as announced by the league Thursday afternoon.

In six games, Dolan totaled 30 points (17 goals, 13 assists), and scored at least two points in all six of those games.

A catalyst to the Dolphins' offensive, the Columbus, Ohio native opened the month with a career-high eight point performance (4g, 4a) to lead Jacksonville to a 19-12 drubbing of Drexel. The following weekend at the Crown Lacrosse Classic in Charlotte, N.C., the sophomore middie combined for 12 points against then-No. 1 Towson (3g, 4a) and then-No. 4 Penn State (3g, 2a).

As the Dolphins opened SoCon action in the middle of the month, Dolan continued his hot streak with two points (1g, 1a) in JU's 11-8 win at Bellarmine before he posted five points (4g, 1a) to lead Jacksonville to a 12-10 upset of then-No. 10 High Point for JU's first-ever win over a ranked opponent.

In last weekend's 14-7 road loss at Air Force, Dolan scored twice and dished an assist to bring his monthly total to 30 points and 5.00 points per game.

Currently the Dolphins' leading scorer this season, Dolan picked up at least one ground ball in all six games and caused four turnovers, including two against Drexel.

Last season, Dolan earned national recognition on the SB Nation/College Crosse All-Freshman Second Team.

Dolan and the Dolphins return to action this Saturday, April 6 as Richmond visits D.B. Milne Field with face off set for noon.

UR has yet to play the likely 3 other SoCon Tourney contenders-JAX,HPU,AF.Each of those games will be played away. The remaining home game will be vs Mercer.

JAX beating High Point shows how well they are capable of playing. We are definitely hitting the tough part of our SOCON schedule........................

8-5 Spiders at the half....Richmond had a brilliant strategy at the end of the half scoring with 4 tenths of a second remaining........................faceoffs improved dramatically in the second quarter after we had lost 9 of the first 10. Hot playing conditions over 80 and muggy.

Colleges roundup: Lanchbury's big day leads Richmond to men's lacrosse victory

Vince Shaw·23 hours ago

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Ryan Lanchbury set the school record for goals in a season and tied another for goals in a game as the Richmond men's lacrosse team beat Southern Conference foe Jacksonville (3-8, 2-2) 14-8 on Saturday.

Lanchbury, a sophomore, scored six goals, tying the Spiders' mark held by teammate Teddy Hatfield, who scored a half-dozen against High Point in 2016.

Lanchbury also has 36 goals for the season, topping the school mark set of 34 set by Hatfield last season. UR has three games left in the regular season.

Lanchbury, who also added an assist, has scored three or more goals in nine of 11 games for the Spiders (7-4, 4-0) and has scored at least four goals five times.

Brett Randall and Drew Petkevich added two goals apiece for conference-leading UR.

We shut down Dolphin Dolan. It was key.Our D played tough everywhere.Relentless rides and slides.Caused tons of JU turnovers(17).
Haven’t seen it that aggressive this season.Next week AFA and elevation.Host HPU handled AFA with little problem today.
