Mens - Davidson @RC - Sat 1/25 6pm ESPN+

Our defensive effort has been good lately and I think that continues. Look for another big game out of our Euro connection of Dusan and Apostolos. Don't expect to see GW3 this game - I expect he gets 3-4 minutes and disappears again. Keep the game low scoring and Spiders hold onto this game for the win at the end with a timely Roche 3 late in the 2nd half.

Spiders 65 Davidson 59

Bobby Buckets gets 17 on us. Will be interesting to see if he sticks around at Davidson after this season or looks to transfer. He is having a good season so far. Averaging 15 points and 5 rebounds, while shooting 44% from 3 point land. With his size at 6-6/6-7 - he would certainly draw interest from P5 schools and could make some money moving up.

Their big guards and centers destroy us on switches and post ups. Again our
coaching staff makes adjustments too slow and the Wildcats leave the RC a winner.

A couple of observations/questions:

I appreciate that we don't have to play the guys the most minutes that we end up starting.... but i simply don't understand the rotation at this point.... and it appears to me that the coaching staff has no handle on it this deep into the season either.

1. The last eight minutes we basically played Tanner, B Artis, Tyne, Walz and Neskovic. He finally got Roche back in with 10 seconds left when the game was already over but we still needed a basket and subbed out Neskovic? I honestly must be missing something. If this is our best lineup, why are Roche and AP starting? Please someone help me.

2. One of our two best defender's/shot blockers/defensive rebounders by any metric this season has been AP. You don't think his presence would've helped against literally their only scorer (outside of Durkin's little flurry) as opposed to going randomly small for the entire second half of the second half?

Seriously, wtf are we doing?

One more WAY, WAY less important thing.... but something i observed randomly and found interesting:

Durkin intentionally bumped into Neskovic (legit made a point to go out of his way to make physical contact with him) to throw off his balance while Neskovic was on the FT line in the second half between a first and second FT when Durkin was switching sides. I've watched an awful lot of games in my life.... and I can't say that I ever recall actually seeing someone make a point to make physical contact in that way with the shooter.... and am fairly sure its illegal and at least a common foul.

I am interested if Durkin's NIL Agent (Gkiller) will have comment on this move. I do member when the twins from VMI would switch jerseys. This is just a flat out intimidation move.

It was weird to not get Roche in the game when we could have used a shooter in the game. We were also having success early screening and then hitting cutters with that weird double hedge thing they were doing, but then stopped screening in the second half.

Also noticed that bump on the line.

One other thing - why doesn’t Mooney use the use it or lose it time out in the first half? Does he know that rule? Today, we got the ball back with around 12 seconds - would be a good time to draw a play up… if we did that.

We are no threat from Tyne and White and when down by 2 with the ball and Nescovic turns the
ball over cause everyone else in the house knew the only threat was Dusan. Great game from MW.
Davidson has enough players that can shoot that forces us to cover everyone tight. Again our guards are
not a scoring threat and GW may be only shooter in the guards.

I mean, statistically both Walz and Beagle have higher block rates and defensive rebounding rates than AP, but I get your point. Walz is #18 in the country in defensive rebounding rate.

Its so hard to watch this team. Even when we were bad those two years under Mooney in 17 and 18 there was some hope they'd develop into something and they did. With the NIL landscape that's gone so were stuck with watching a team that is not good and will have to do it all again next year when half this team will have moved on. All while having the same rhetoric from Hardt's PR squad that everything is fine.

I sat this game out so I can’t comment specifically but sounds like an intimidation move Larry Legend would do.

So Bobby Buckets goose egg in 1st. Finished w 16 10 & 2. b2b backbreaking 3s to win game. And f’d with us at the FT line.

I’d call that as predictable as a hot Roche sitting most of 2nd half when the rest of our team can’t shoot.
