Matt Grace

He has been solid and improved. I still saw a few times where he has trouble staying in front of his man and loose rebound has to be in his area to get it, no rebound radius.

Grace and Sal do look improved, but both really struggle if they have to be quick or cover any space. Felt bad for Sal unable to dunk on the break away, but rather make the shot if unsure - so good decision. Overall, I see improvement from both, with Grace looking to be a little more aggressive on offense that last year imo. I did agree with the poster that questioned his step back three with man on him. LIke the confidence, but not a good decision. I do like his form and confidence on three's in general - just needs to wait for the wide open 3 and not force.

we don't see him in practice. if he's confident enough to take that in a game, he probably knocks them down in practice. I'm not going to worry about an 0 for 1 game.

he's very solid now as a junior. this board needs to be more patient with some guys. Grace took too much criticism here. some of the guys we recruit, particularly big guys, take a little time to develop. I'm glad we have him.

Yea Matt was the quiet man off the bench that got some rebounds, assists and points but did it very quietly.
In fact when you look at Gus, Sal and Matt, they are nothing real flashy but simply do the job they are asked to do. Sal looked more comfortable out there yesterday and at one point the quiet 3 were in the second half and extended our lead before starters came in and lost it.

as for Sal, I think he's just not as explosive as we expected. I wanted the big dunk there for him more than for us. think his teammates would have been fired up. but he made a good play and got the 2 points.

bigger to me, I was happy how he confidently took the 3 in the corner.

I ragged on Matt Grace a lot this offseason, and the man has proven me wrong! Until this year I saw a kid who was lost every time he had the ball and even more lost on defense. Every possession he was in there felt like the other team had a huge advantage.

Now I see a guy who is confident in not only the system but in his ability. We talk about Grant being an amazing passer, and last night Grace had the second most assists on the team. In 8 fewer minutes he had one more assist than Grant and the same number of rebounds. I really like what he is bringing off the bench and he no longer looks like a deer in headlights. Excited to see what he can do the rest of the season

I'm going to continue to say it, this kid should not be shooting 3s unless it's in the last 7 seconds of the shot clock. Maybe you are right about the other things, even though I am not convinced he is much of an upgrade defensively over Grant. But his offense has not improved to where he should have the green light from 3. Defenders seem to be purposefully playing off of him hoping he will take that shot.

Agreed. He shouldn’t be shooting two threes in a game, much less in the first half.
