Saw a few ideas posted in other threads, so thought it might be a good idea to collect in one thread. It was mentioned that at some of the women's game - they are using old t-shirts (some from the 90-' and early 2000's) to shoot out and give to fans. To me - that just looks bad, as it looks like you just found some old shirts laying around and decided to get rid of them. Others have mentioned they are vintage - and up came some ideas for games. Here are some thoughts shared.
1) Retro Game - have Spiders wear a jersey made from a certain era of Spider basketball, and whole theme of the game should be around that era. So if they are wearing a jersey from the 88 NCAA team, then have fans wear 80's clothes, play 80's music, and have 80's contests throughout the game. You can even auction off the jerseys to raise money for charity afterwards.
2) White Out/Red Out Games - supply every person with the shirt of this color upon entry and have a color night. Almost every major college does this for 1 game a year - yet, we have difficulty pulling it off.
Progressive prize/contest. I would maybe start $500 and it increases maybe $200 each game afterwards. Could be just for students (to get them to attend) or whole crowd. But basically - have them complete a shooting contest. Like make a layup, free throw, and 3 pointer in 30 seconds. Do this - and win the prize. If the person doesn't do it - next home game - the prize increases. Might be good for students to entice them to games - give them cash in hand IF they win.
Baby Race - this is a fan favorite and should continue.
Fraternity/Soriority night - have contests geared towards the fraternities/soriorites. See if this can get them coming to games - or at least 1 game a year for this event.
Any other ideas out there?
