The hook 'n' hold flagrant/technical on Cayo was bogus.
Fox Sports is awesome. Basketball on TV is much better when you don't know the score.
That was the best half of Spider basketball I’ve seen in awhile. Up 3 at half. Have to play tough for 20 more minutes to grind out a statement win. Let’s get this!!
Solid performance so far. Loyola doesn't have lots of offensive options, but UR is doing better than expected against their defense. Loyola's coach has had his Hurley moments on the sideline. Lol
Like many teams before them, Loyola has learned that an individual dribble drive pretty much beats the Spiders defense.
The Yale grad student, like the other grad students before him, disappoints.
Loyola predicting our weave offense with 2 steals already from that. Getting a bunch of rebounds on us too. Now up 11 on us. Spiders offense started strong but we need a full 40 minute effort in all facets of the game to beat a quality team like Loyola. Still time left to try and turn things around
Just like last year - We clear out when the opponents drive to the basket. Looks like layups are free. And 3 pointers are not contested. Nothing changes if nothing changes. Will be a tough year when playing decent teams. All they have to do is look at the scouting report.
We are toast. Half time adjustments for them and ZERO change for us. Mooney!!!

Mooney needs to demand that guys play D. Terrible defensive effort.
Things falling apart now. Not rebounding, leaving open perimeter shots, and lack of presence in the paint can beat teams like IUPUI and St Francis but exposes us against quality teams. No team can win games with the lack of rebounding that we have. Rebounding is such an important aspect of the game that we have never been good at since I’ve started following Richmond
We're not going to win this game so Mooney should play more of the bench, as they will be needed as the season progresses. They need game experience.
Our guys are tired. That depth we talked about so much on this board before game 1, it just doesn't exist. We might give up 100 points tonight. And with only 1 day off between games - not liking game 2 chances either. Maybe he should sit the big 3 the rest of the game - give other guys some minutes and buy some rest to hope game 2 is better.
Mooney would never do that. Wants to keep it under 20 and say we were competitive.
Loyola is just a better team than us. It’s a shame things ended the way it did after such a great first half. But I will say this until the cows come home. If we ever want to compete against quality teams like Loyola we need to rebound. We only have 17 rebounds this game and I’m willing to bet 1/3 of those are from Loyola’s missed free throws. We also need more depth
It’s very very hard to win when you absolutely can’t stop anyone on the dribble drive. They are shooting 80% in 2nd half but haven’t actually taken an actual shot , just layups. We are competent offensively, terrible on defense and we don’t even try to rebound. Long season ahead
