the government, our government, lost over $100 million in producing, minting the penny and the nickel last year and has lost similar amounts for the past 6 years. they launched a two year study to find a solution but none yet. why are there those who still want them to do more, much more? unbelievable, they would be so out of business if we had any smarts in this country but of course, they will drive themselves out of business if they don't get their financial house in order. and oh by the way, obamacare will now cost double what they said when they passed the bill, GAO says. hello, how about triple or more by next year. this entity and these legislators are so incompetent yet they are in charge of this trillion dollar business, funny, a shame, sad, scary.

Polls show about 2/3rds of people want to keep the penny. They're worried about businesses raising prices if it gets discontinued.

Canada did away with theirs...long past time for the U.S. to do the same.

there are options SF but after the exhaustive two year study which probably cost about the same as the budget of a small country, they still cannot get off of square one. i like the penny, have no prob with keeping it, if that is the choice but the option has to be to go with another, cheaper metal. if not, eliminate it but do something. if it was not OUR money they keep wasting, this would be hilarious.
