JMU Game

I'm sure this is all Huesman's fault.
He is the well paid man at the top. He is ultimately responsible. He can be fired. Unless you want to start throwing 18 year old players under the bus. But I’m not complaining about coach on any of this

I had no expectations of winning today but would like to make this whole lot more respectable than last year. Not trending in that direction, unfortunately.

3 play stretch...

1- Fumble on goal line
2- 80 yard bomb
3- fumble ensuing kickoff

Turn out the lights.

Think next season is make it or break it for Russ. We look slow, small and, frankly, intimated.

I think some of this is our youth. JMU appears to have a number more Jr amd Sr in their 2-deep.

That said, next year needs to be a playoff season. 5 offensive linemen and QB will be back and a ton of youth on the roster growing up.

I doubt its "make or break" next year since we dont fire anyone at UR, but it should be.

Fuller, in a pregame interview, stated that they're coached to not stretch the ball out at the goal line. Fessler obviously made a mistake on his own. What would you do? Bench Fessler? Players gotta play. Coaches put them in position to score and they screwed up.

Completely agree...we r very young...some head scratching losses this yr but some surprising wins....rocco poisoned the players russ inherited.....imo, russ has 2 more yrs to get us back to major relevancy

Just getting gashed on defense

Yeah. Our first drive is what we needed to do in order to have a shot today...control time of possession and keep the ball away from them. Now the fumble and following 80 yard TD pass completely took away that momentum. I want to see how we respond in the second half in terms of effort, execution, and body language. We know what the result is going to be but I want to see how we fight against a superior opponent.

Wow, can we please quite blaming Rocco? Regardless of how you feel about him, Huesman has had 3 years now. And it's not like they started out bad and have gotten slowly better. 4-7 last year, 6-6 at best this year (W&M is trending up so probably 5-7). The man owns it now. I'm not wanting to fire him, but nothing that has happened in the last three years has impressed me (coaching, not players).

You got a great point about JMU experience, all 22 starters except one JR or SR and they get lots of FBS transfers. Our FR and RSF hopefully will get there, lot of them are certainly talented.

Why do we have to play our worst game against our rival? And yes I remember Fordham

Can't get any worse than fumble going into the endzone, give up 80 yd td on the next play, and then fumble the kickoff. Now, maybe things can change in the second half. I hope so, keep it respectful.

"Your Honor, I present the entire game tape against Fordham into evidence."

To many mistakes by the Spiders. 2 times we had ball inside the 2 and got 3 points. We dropped a TD pass, Joe missed wide open receiver for TD. That’s your ball game. JMU executed, we didn’t. Opportunities were there for us to be in this game.

13 of our starters on offense and defense are juniors and seniors. While we are young overall depthwise don't think we can just lay this just on youth. Fumbles and dropped passes (all key plays) were by upperclassmen. Playcalling is also an issue. Don't know why we threw lateral passes when we should have been going vertical is baffling.

I think it’s more execution. We had plays that worked and we moved the ball. I don’t like the backwards passes but if we don’t miss easy throws for TD, make TD catches that hit us in the hands, don’t fumble going in to score, and don’t fumble the kickoff return we are in the game.

Turnovers, dropped passes, bad play calls, other than that we were competitive. Glad JMU pulled the starters early in the 4th or this one woul

So true. Add mental errors to the list. Lots.

I agree we do have some experience at a lot of positions and they have made plenty of mistakes this this game and year. Our young guys just need to have time to grow up, both physically and with game experience, IMO

The two early turnovers set the tone for game. After that, our defense seemed to want to avoid contact in the tackling process. That's on the players!
