We have the most top 25 wins of any team in the A10, and we are tied with VCU for the most top 50 wins. At this point as long as we win at least one more game I think we are pretty much a lock for the NIT. I still think we need to win the A10 championship to go to the NCAAs, but I think we have a decent chance of making a run depending on how the seeding works out and if we can get ANO back.

I would prefer to be on the opposite side of the bracket from URI. Bad matchup for us.

Agree about Rhody. Bad matchup for us. As much as I hate to say it, I wouldn't be dying to see RPI for a 3rd time either.

Give me a 5 seed for us against Dayton as the 4 on Friday with the potential of getting #1 Davidson in the Semi on Saturday.

The regular season probably comes down to RPI at Davidson next Thursday night.

I too don't like a match up with RI. I think they're the most physical team we played this year in conference, & that presents a challenge to us. On the other hand, to beat VCU 3 times in a season is also challenge, but not to say it can't be done.

Bottom line - We are now playing with momentum at the right time of the year. A minimum of a split is really needed in upcoming 2 road games, but 2 road victories would really turn the corner. At this time of the year it's the hungry teams that win. So I see no reason we can't be in the mix for winning A10 tournament.

The A-10 tourney is going to be wide open. We should be in the mix but there are a lot of teams who could win it all. Dayton, URI, VCU, UMass, Davidson, St. Bonnies and LaSalle all have the talent to win multiple games in the tourney.

We are playing well, a split in the next 2 is pretty essential to continue our momentum. We can't crap the bed the next two games, just because they are on the road.

It looks like assumptions (you know what that's worth) have two teams Dayton and RPI in the NCAA and 6 teams, RI, LaSalle, UMass, Davidson, GW, and the Spiders in the NIT. They admit the league is tough 6 of 32 teams in the NIT but only put 2 in the NCAA bracket?

I still can't find a team that has won 4 games in 4 days to win a conference tournament. I believe we made the finals once as a 5+ seed, but ran out of steam in the finals.. We really need to win out and hope for some breaks to get into the top 4.

Spiders actually don't need that many breaks to land a top 4 seed.

Winning out would include a victory over UMass, so the only requirement is that Broad Street U finishes at 12-6 since UR owns the tie-breaker. Given that they are just 4-4 since Weber went down, with no wins over top 75 teams, I would say there is a reasonable chance of them losing to both Dayton and Davidson.

Just think: Had we won the Mason and Dayton games, we would be in a four-way tie for first and we would own the tiebreaker as the 1-seed right now. We'd be tied with Rhody, Davidson and VCU and we're 3-2 against that group. Davidson is 2-2, VCU is 2-2, Rhody is 1-2.

Amazing.

that Mason game was a backbreaker, it was very winnable and we pooped ourselves. Feel the same way that we could have gotten away with wins against Rhody and LaSalle.

I think we can play with anybody, need to do it consistently.

U Conn was the only one I could recall that has possibly done that as well, but certainly can't recall any A10 team and our bench is so short I don't think we could hold up for 4 in 4 days.

Absolutely. If we had won just that one game, I think our profile right now would allow us to show up on some bubble radars. As it is Mason has an RPI in the 200's and that is death blow to any team residing anywhere near the bubble.

So if we had won the Wake game, the Northeastern game, and then that Mason game, we would be 19-9 with and RPI of 27...

Ugh. So frustrating.

Also, I think Georgia won 5 games in 4/5 days a few years ago, including a doubleheader one of those days because of a tornado or something at the Georgia Dome, to win the SEC title. They were a pretty average team that year too, as I recall.

At least I think they won the title game. Maybe they lost it.

Davidson keeps bouncing between last team in and first team out. It would be great to see them win the regular season.
Especially since their next two games could help us. They are at home vs GW, then at home vs RPI, before traveling to Duquesne.

As for 4 games in four days, no need to look any further than the A-10...it can be done. Even by a soft David West...
