Kneepad, your love of Mooney is astounding!. Elaborate please for those of us on the fence.
Yes I have not really been on the best class ever band, maybe a little. And not been on the Mooney sucks. I think he has been mediocre to average. I wish he had had the motivation to take that big job in 2012. Instead We have had a mediocre mindset over the program for years. So go ahead and Kevin Bacon all you want and enjoy the mediocrity.

Let's look back at history a little bit. Our sweet 16 team under Tarrant went 21-6 in the regular season with losses to 10-18 JMU, 12-16 Navy, and 14-14 American. Our 2011 sweet 16 team went 24-7 in the regular season with losses to Iona, ODU, and Bucknell.
So...um....how many of their starting 5 returned?

That's absolute BS. I can dig up 50+ posts where it is abundantly clear that it is being used derisively. Maybe you are not intending it to be sarcastic, but you'd be the ONLY one.
Sure, if after a frustrating loss that shouldn't happen to a senior-laden team, someone were to just post "BEST CLASS EVER," I can see that. And that's probably its most frequent usage.

Context matters. Content matters. Perhaps not to you. What on earth in my post was snarky or sarcastic?

Yep, bad comparison trying to compare Mooney to Tarrant. Tarrant's teams tended to peak at the end of the season - i.e getting blown out by JMU regular season and beating in CAA championship. They were pretty tough on defense. I'm sure 4700 will try to cherry pick some stats, but I saw that meltdown vs VCU in Brooklyn and I saw Dick's teams in person. Big difference.

I’ve said this before but the Kevin Bacon is genius. But 1 unsolicited piece of advice for Kneepad. You don’t want it to become ubiquitous. Got to pick & choose the Kevin Bacons.
I agree - I love the Kevin Bacon bit.
Overuse will make it tired.

Interesting. So #theseniorclass cannot transfer for "Year 4" under the COVID rules? They can only return or leave?
Correct. You have to play it at your school or nowhere. I don't know how it works for guys like Burton though. Does he have 3 more years with us but only 2 more if he transfers? Not sure.

Looking at your last sentence, are you talking about potential on the court? I just think we need to keep things in perspective here. We are 10 and 4 with some nice wins right now. And 34-11 going back to last year.

Imagine if those teams had their seasons ended before the conference tourney like last year's team, or was interrupted numerous times by covid like this year's team. How would we look back at history on those teams? I think this team is being treated very unfairly and negatively by a lot of people for reasons out of their control.
The attitude you have is the problem with this program. If you look at the guys UR brought back this year from a 24 and 7 team the previous year you would think that the team would get even better and go on a run like Dayton or SDSU did last year. Guess what, that hasn’t happened. And the only reason for that is poor coaching, you can’t really come up with any other excuse. My football coach in high school used to talk about the natural progression of football all the time, which is where you get better with more experience and continuity year after year, basketball is no different. Would we say that this team has shown an upward trend this year? No we wouldn’t. Losing to Hofstra and La salle does not show that at all. Any other team in the country with UR’s level of experience and talent simply would not lose those types of games, it’s on the coach end of story. He has consistent led this program with an attitude of complacency and softness and we have a massive sample size of that. The fact that this man is still a division 1 head coach is just mind numbing to me.

you do notice the number of favorites losing games each night this year, right? top 25 teams were like 4-6 last night.

Wow, you totally missed my point. And, you are wrong. Plenty of teams with a lot of talent and experience have "bad" losses this year. I mentioned yesterday that only 12 teams ahead of us in the NET who played at least 14 games had fewer than 4 losses, and 14 teams ahead of us had 5 or more losses. Good teams are losing all over the place. Last night, there were 8 ranked teams that played, and 5 of them lost to unranked teams. So, let's stop acting like we are the only team out there with a questionable loss or two.

Looking back at the 2011 team, one that deservedly gets a lot of praise on here, we had KA, Harp, Geriot, and Smith as seniors, lost games to Iona, ODU, and Bucknell the first half of the season, and made it to the sweet 16. What if they would have had 3 covid pauses? Who knows how they would have handled it? This team could have done the same thing, and who knows, still might if we can get some games in.

Last year's team and this year's had similar records and seasons to our 2 sweet 16 teams. Those 2 teams did not have their season stopped before the conference tourney one year or have covid pauses. How is that an excuse? Or, maybe answer this, how was last year's team supposed to win some games in the dance when there never was a dance? Just wondering, would you criticize the 2011 class if the NCAA had no conference tourneys or dance in 2010 and they had 3 covid pauses in 2011? I just don't understand the anger and criticism toward this team this year.

Mike speaks from experience. The Spiders had 4 wins *total* in his first three years! But his senior year, we went 7-4.
He's had the year off thanks to VHSL - can he coach college basketball?

Mike Henderson was the best coach I’ve ever had playing any sport. I still am sad that I only got to have him as a coach for one year because he left for the Freeman job after my freshman year. The amount of football I learned from him in one year is unreal. He is a big reason why I’m getting into coaching football.

We aren't getting games in. The program is shut down through Feb.12. Look at the schedule no room to add more games. This year is completely messed up with Covid so comparing this year to any year is unfair. Losing to Hofstra and Lasalle are way different than Iona, ODU and Bucknell. Iona went 25-12 in their conference that year which was 2nd in their conference. ODU went 27-7 that year. Bucknell went 25-9 that year. Lasalle and Hofstra aren't winning +20 plus games.

Not really that different. Those teams had good years, but Iona played in the CIT tourney, and Bucknell won the Patriot League, so I can pretty much say for a fact, when you review posts on here, that this year's team would get absolutely no credit for beating a CIT team and a Patriot League team, but a whole heck of a lot of crap for losing to them. But, hey, no worries, we can just disagree.
