GW part deux

Hard fought game. I'm not going to criticize any player or the coach. We were undersized, and we adapted well. Every game is critical for tournament seeding. We need to continue to win one game at a time. Seems we have a star arise every game, TJ, Buck, KF, or SDJ.

Solid win today. Good to see Fore bounce back, Buck and Kirby not back down against Cavanaugh, and just a general excitement and joy this team is playing with.

Some negatives too but all in all a good day for Spider basketball.

I thought the crowd was good. Atmosphere was good also. We controlled the game and did a decent job on the glass most of the game against a big team. I thought we exploited their weakness, which is guard play. They don't have the athletes to check KF, and he made them pay. Good bounce back game. Folks, we are 8-3 in A10. Pretty solid.

The freshmen had a rare off game, but they've done all we could ask for plus some. I'm glad we had other guys step up to fill the gap. I think we would have won at least two more games if Golden had stayed healthy.
No doubt and wish we had him this whole year, but I understand. Hope we have a Golden Rush the next four years.

I also want to make note that I'm not that sad we missed on Steeves. He had a fine game but his shooting form rivals Kwesi's and he struggled to defend quite a bit.

Good effort by Spids.

Yep. Thought the same thing. He probably had one of his better games against us but he couldn't defend a wet paper bag. TJ just abused him.

I noticed the commentators went off for a few minutes about how great a system Richmond runs for skilled big men and how much more freedom there is for individual players in Mooney's version of the Princeton offense compared to the original. It is very obvious that TJ has done well in our system, TA, Harper, Geriot, and even DWill did great as well. Our center has essentially the highest usage rate of any center in the country this year, hopefully Mooney will find some way to sell this fact to recruits in the future.

Good, solid win. Never let them get back in it after that initial run to start the game. Our offense looked really good, defense was good in the moments it needed to be. The crowd sucked. Zero energy except on a few occasions.

That's why I don't like to get on TJ for his TO issues at times. The guy probably handles the ball per possession more than plenty of point guards. Probably another reason he can't stay on the court for extended periods of time.

That game was never in doubt. They made a run but we kept them at bay and they never really threatened.

Now for a week of rest

They did cheer for the crawling babies

He had an odd shooting line at Harvard last year. 66% FT, 45% from 2, 47% from 3.

I thought the crowd was the worst of any home game I have seen this year. Very quiet, even on big run in first half. Only noticeable noise was recognition for Ginny and Khwan's punctuation dunk to shut the door.

Just read the thread from beginning to end. What a bunch of malcontents. We played hard. Great defense. KF was tremendous, as were TJ and SDJ. Kirby and JJ were solid. Buck and Nick were tough when they needed to be, but are freshmen. Cut these guys and CM some slack. We beat a pretty solid team.

And Ginny Doyle...

Yes that was a total tear jerker for their family......Ginny died way too young.....Glad Spiders recognized her... Also Crutcher was announced to be on the court with Gill but wasn't there, so announcer didn't get the word?

Steeves was incredibly slow. On TJ's spin move on him, it appeared Steeves was wearing concrete sneakers.

And yeah, his shooting form was like shot putting.

I want to give a shout out to Joe Kirby. Great game and plays with fire. Also apparently a bit of an irritant to the other team, as evidenced by Cavanuagh's comments after the game. Also got under some Rhody players skins in that game. You wouldn't want your star players to do that but for the 8th/9th guy off the bench, I like that.

Joe is a great kid with an abundance of confidence and a big personality. Could easily imagine that he could say something clever to get under the skin of an opponent. Love his fire.

Yes we were!!! We were pumped the entire game!!!

I don't know what game you were watching but a lot of noise was made in the gym. I couldn't hear anyone on my phone!

So we recruited GW coach MoJo and lost out on him to Tom Izzo? I remember that one stinging although he didn't really pan out (think he finished career at Vermont?). Hard to believe it was that long ago that he's now coaching in our league. As opposed to the criticism of him I saw on here, I got a good impression of him and his handling of his team. Liked his presence.

Btw... my assessment of plodding GW is there ain't that much there talent wise (kudos to Mojo for having them compete). Feel like the A10 is really down this year. Every time I think we've really improved since noncon I look at another middle of the pack team and wonder if the competition in league is just that bad.

Good question. The league certainly did not distinguish itself this year OOC, so now do we just have a bunch of mediocre teams that we are beating?

I think there is talent in this league and it is just having a down year. GW has a lot of good big men, but man they need to recruit better at the guard position.
