Nathan Cayo will be the greatest surprise of the season. This year he will be asked to add his considerable talents to scoring, moving beyond his role on last year's team. His offensive and defensive production will be a key in balancing scoring and shutting down opponents.

Personally I have such high hopes for Cayo that I don’t think he *can* surprise me. I think the only way is if he developed his jumper into a weapon.

Watching his development has been amazing, and I know he’s going to have some incredible games this season!

As much as some of us bang on Grace, and I do wish he had a little more lateral quickness and defensive aggression, I thought he looked pretty decent and confident when he stepped out and took 3's last year. And at least one of the practice videos he was knocking them down with confidence in scrimmage situations. Hopefully Burton and Gus can shoot with that confidence - we really will need that ability to stretch the floor with Sherod out.

Nate's improvement year to year has been amazing. I do worry this year about what could happen if we don't shoot 3s as well with Nick out. Nate was great at taking his guy 1 on 1 in the lane. Will he see more doubles if we can't spread the floor with shooters? We need a 3rd good 3 point shooter on the floor. He doesn't have to be as good as Nick, who was 10th in the country last year from 3, but we need him to be good enough to prevent teams from packing it in on Nate and Grant. It's a lot easier on defense to worry about 2 outside shooters instead of 3.

This reminds me of Buck. Even though he made some 3s, teams never seemed to worry about him out there, so he was left open a lot, which made it tougher for everyone else

Richmond finishes the regular season at 6-3 but given one of our 6 wins is against West Virginia, we are granted an at large to the NCAA tourney. Becoming the first ever team invited to the dance with 6 wins. Until later in the selection show when two other 6 win teams hear their name called.

#surprised?
