Lots of same issues. We were great from 2 and awful from 3 ( especially until we hit a few late in half). Turnovers better but offset by being outreboinded. And of yeah, none of it matters because the not very good other team shot over 50% yet again. Until we get better and a lot better on defense, it’s going to be really hard to beat anybody.

But still 20 min to go

Wish we could guard the theee point line. They are 9-12 from FT line we are 2-4. We have cut the turnovers down. They have 3 inches on us at every position including coach. Need 13 to do something

Another game, another horrible shooting line from Solly. Thought he was going to come in as a wise and polished player who was going to put up numbers from day 1.

Rebounding is just murder. We have to foul because we can't rebound

Doesn't look like Solly is going to give us much scoring but he hustles his butt off.

Could have said the exact same thing about Kwesi last year. I'm waiting for Solly the lock-down defender, shot blocking machine several posters said he was.

3 of our players have scored 84% of the points. Need more balance.

Can't do much about the free throws but allowing 56% shooting on threes is awful.
The fouls come from our inability to get a defensive rebound. We have to foul often to stop the easy stick back or dunk.

For me, us missing wide open threes and them making wide open threes (and some covered ones) was basically the difference. I felt like we competed fine on the boards and defensively (save a couple missed assignments), but just couldn't make open shots--again.

Was glad to see the effort (which, I will agree preemptively with everyone about to jump down my throat, should be present every single night). I thought we played hard and smart and offense got a lot of good looks, we just didn't take our chances.

It would be a lot easier to swallow if it made us 3-2 instead of 1-5.

Right. The margin for error is zero the rest of the season. Really, it's a negative number at this point. There are no moral victories. We lost again, nothing to feel positive about.

Margin of error for what? I am guessing you meant at large which pretty much was never a realistic possibility given our inexperience. Maybe you meant something different though...

Glad he kept Solly in there as much as he did and didn't even try to put Paul or even Cayo back in for more than 40 seconds. Solly did what in France?????
I love our offensive philosophy. We are small with one big guy so let's play him as far away from the basket as possible and just hope he will contribute a whole bunch of threes since he will seldom be under the basket to follow a miss or get a tip and a foul. Genius, absolute genius. Grant did score from outside tonight but I would just like to see at least an equal mix of inside and outside from him.
The team played better than they did in the previous two games but Georgetown's great foul shooting was too much to overcome. I wasn't impressed with the former NBA star as a coach. He didn't seem able or even worried about trying to pound the ball inside. I guess he didn't need to since they shot so well from three point land.
Very good games from Grant, Buck, and Kwan. Nick not that far behind. Jake had good hustle but will have a tough time driving against the tall trees.

This was the first time all year that I have seen the effort and mindset necessary to be competitive. Young players made mistakes and failed to make the plays that determine who wins and loses. This game played out exactly as one would expect.

It is still a loss and that stings, but I can't put all the blame on Mooney this time. The players just weren't quite good enough when it counted to get the win.

The margin for error to be a moderately competitive basketball team. Vermont would have beaten us by 15 or more tonight and likely will Wednesday. This was one of the worst teams in the Big East, and even playing our best game of the year, we couldn't beat them. At home.

The fouls come from our inability to get a defensive rebound. We have to foul often to stop the easy stick back or dunk.

And offensive rebounds are an afterthought. If we'd have aggressively gone in for those, we may have been able to pick up a handful of 2nd chance points. The good news is the run the other way / prevent defense is working as designed.;)

2nd chance points are an opportunity cost in Mooney's system. When our 3 point shooting is off, and missing critical foul shots, the 2nd chance opportunities are wasted...especially in a close game.

Played much better tonight. That loss is palatable if we weren’t 1-4 going into it.

Best lineup (IMO) is Gilyard, Fore, Buck, Nick, Grant - small but like we learned last year after trying the Marshall plan - we should give our best players the most minutes.

The good:
Buck seems to have woken up
Fore is rounding back into playing form and was very aggressive when we need it the most
My 8 year old granddaughter looked great on the jumbotron with her face painted
05 looked great on the jumbotron (no face painting though)

The bad:
Gilyard NOTHING. But at least I can hope he can be a D-1 player one day
Stansbury NOTHING. Please take a seat on the end of the bench until March, then transfer to a DIII school where maybe you can contribute off the bench one day.

Looked like #2 for Georgetown could have driven to the basket anytime he wanted to. I guess making 60% from 3 was more fun.

Thought Fore gave good minutes. Buckingham played his best game of the year by far, we’re at our best when he’s aggressive driving in the paint. Nick has been cold all year from 3 but I have faith that will improve. Stansbury is awful, and doesn’t contribute much at all on either end of the floor.

Is that what we're pinning our hopes on now? At least we had fun? Nothing personal (and I'm glad your son had a good time) but this team needs to find itself and turn this bus around now.

Great to see a "2020" on here BTW. Love having current students on the board.
