@ George Mason 2/9

And then we don't have a rim protector when our guy gets beat. In fact, Grant almost seems to help clear the driver's path to the hoop, not stepping up himself to help and making sure no one else can help either. It's like his only job is to put a body on his own man even when a guy is going up for an uncontested layup or dunk. Take a foul or at least force the guy into a tough shot or a pass.
SF come on. We all know defense is only 5% of the game and offense is 95%. Grant is all time great.

Our defense got better in the 2nd half, but you could see the game plan from GMU, drive, drive and drive some more and watch us step aside. Except for Goose.

i hope defense finally recognize the spin move that skinny George Mason player uses EVERY TIME when he drives to hoop. I am sure he has done it against everybody all the year but somehow we were not ready for it last game
it's a heck of a move. he's going to his left and he's a lefty. if you don't take that away, he'll score. if you do he's got the quick spin right. problem was letting him get to that spot in the first place.

not much time to decide once he's there, but I think I'd prefer to double and leave open a jump shooter. we got lucky he missed.

Why every team doesn't drive on us, I don't know. None of our guys, save Goose are good at keeping their man in front of them. Grant is usually half way down the court to set up the offense after he gets beat.
I’d love to see scouting reports vs us. I’d have to think in bold print is “pound the paint”. How many times this year have teams followed that strategy? Look how many points VCU scored that way. Could list other teams but don’t want to overuse disk space on the server.

The scouting report on us is just “make them stop the dribble — they won’t.”

In my opinion offense was our issue last night more than defense (and it's largely tilted this way for several weeks now). Sure there were a couple of obvious examples of getting burned but those happen to every team every game. We held them in the 50's on 40% shooting.

Offensively we ran the shot clock to zero waaay too many times, got overly reliant on 3's, and we're just overall stagnant for a large portion of the game.

Thankfully Gilly was hot yesterday, but I think if we can't get more creative on offense it might be a long night tomorrow.

They out rebounded us by 17 and it took a one in a million block and two miracle shots for us to win at home. I would guess with their best player back and no one to stop him getting his 18 points. I say we lose by about 15 points. 80 to 65.

I hope you’re not a betting man

K, we were just toying with them last night. The total KO for them comes tomorrow. :)

Seriously, if we shoot well from 3, and we are due, like our chances a ton. Looking for Sherrod to get out of his funk as Tyler did a couple of games back.

Go Spiders!

and worst of all how many EASY points in the paint they got, those will absolutely kill you.

Opposite. Line moved against the spiders as trying to encourage more bets for George Mason.
Two other reasons line could’ve moved (though more likely movement based on trying to encourage bets to even out the action): (1) other sports books opened up their lines and my app moving in line with the others. (2) Sportsbooks became aware of an injury status that could impact the game. Like the stock market, the house probably knows more than you.

Can that guy make a 12 footer I wonder? Take a step off, better than an unimpeded layup - though of course worked out in this case.

Been reminding myself all morning I like watching our Spiders in person even more than I dislike I-95 traffic and NOVA craziness .. Leaving the RVA soon - stop in Fredericksburg for work conference call and to pick up a friend and then setting GPS for Eagle Bank Arena. Go Spiders.

Still in lead position for fan of the year.

I would prefer the other team's best player be out if we are trying to win the game but that's me.
That's the attitude of this program. Hollow victories. If you can't beat the first team, pray that you play the second team. I like walking through the front door but that's me.

Exactly. The offense was really stale, a lot of passing the ball around the perimeter. We were fortunate that we made more 3's than we typically do. This team is not a good 3 pointing team, but yet is overly reliant on having to hit 3 balls.

Let’s get the Sweep Gentlemen. 🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑
