Game ball

Right near the end of the game, Rocco turned and walked through his players toward the crowd seated behind the bench. He had a game ball in his hand. He yelled something at someone and threw the ball into the crowd. Kevin Johnon's father caught it.
Outstanding! OSC

That's pretty awesome. I'm sorry I missed that.

Thanks for reporting that. I sit on the wrong side to catch what's happening behind the scenes.

Mr. Johnson stood behind us the whole game. Coaches at Pace Academy where Keven went in Buckhead. Very positive and vocal. Seemed to be a great guy. Rocco's throwing him the ball was one of the classiest things I've ever seen.

feel it says a lot about DR that he did not approach KJ last saturday after the injury because if he had, KJ would have said, put me in the game. he waited and let the player and his family make that decision with some time to think about it. my nephew attended Pace and also helped, in a small way, get two Pace kids into UR and they had a great experience and are now great adults. think KJ will be just like them and appreciate him being patient and ready when called upon.

Possible 2nd game ball to Coach Garrett & off. staff. Utilized KJ perfectly. Knowing what type of plays best suited him. Rolled him out some for throws in the flat. Used his big arm for downfield throws. Continued down the seam plays to Hudson. Mixed in plenty of run game, KJ showed well there too. Kudos to OC Garrett, play calling was spot on.

with an additional week, how much do we open up the playbook?

I believe it will open some, more TE and screens would be my guess. In a dome, not knowing how loud it will be, I think the staff will still play close to the vest. If the OL gives KJ any reasonable amount of time, he will pick their D apart

I honestly hope that they don't run KJ, I don't EVER want to see a repeat of the William and Mary game

I thought the playbook was fairly open for having a QB playing in his first game of the year. Watching the replay we had a number of completions on intricate routes. The 3 verticals concept with the 2 TEs and Hudson (at FB) splitting the two right down the hash was an amazing play to see us run.

I felt the same about the running, especially once the game was in hand. KJ did not play like a kid in his first start, he looked poised. I understand he has been running the scout team all season, and he is a coaches son. Those may be factors. I know Eric Ward says he is more poised and calm than E says he ever was -- that surprised me to hear that. Eric is one of the best, note my avatar.

Talk about a nervous dad, I believe he walked miles, just back and forth, back and forth. very nice guy. Has he got any other children? he's built for Defensive Tackle.
