FOREcast FORE Davidson

Didn’t we try to get both Grady & Frampton, just didn’t try very well? Having them may have helped...

Maybe, but if you are going to make 2 of x from 3, then 2 of 11 may be better than 2 of 33...

I hear you, but you have to keep shooting them. Wojcik has shown he can make 3 or 4 in a row after missing some. Same with Jacob. You just cannot get outscored by 20some from 3 and expect to win.

We are 15-28 from 2 and down 21. I know we stink from 3 right now, but we could be 20-28 from 2 and still be down double digits. That is why we have to shoot more 3s, and of course, make more of them. Last 2 games, we have been outscored by 24 and 36 from 3.

Hard to disagree with that. The last 2 games, we have been "out- 3'd" 22-2. On pace to shoot about 11 3s again. We will not win shooting so few 3s. I know we are not making them, but you still have to shoot enough and make enough to win.
Duh

Sounds like a defensive problem to me. If you've got Mooney's ear, ask him to force the other team to shoot more 2s.

Honest question here. Does anyone watch these games and still think "We're okay, Mooney just needs more time?" If so, what's the reason? I promise I won't criticize your opinion. Just want to hear the rationale behind people who have watched this season unfold, are aware of Mooney's overall record as a coach here, and still continue to feel this way.

We're to the point where we aren't even competitive in games against the top teams in the conference and lose to teams we always beat (Duquesne).

I think we have some very talented players on our roster who play with a lot of grit and determination. Gilyard, Golden, Cayo, Wojcik, etc. are too talented to be losing like this. It is beyond clear that we need a new direction with coaching and it needs to happen at the end of the season. If Hardt really wants to move this program forward, he will see that and make the right decision.

Mooney himself yesterday specifically said he was fine only shooting 11 or 12 threes in our last game. Just more evidence that he is a lost cause.

No...moveon.org has to be our motto

I did not hear that, but I definitely disagree with that strategy.

This is the crux of it. Honestly, I truly believe we could take the court with no coach and let these guys just play basketball their own way and we'd be more competitive than this. It's pathetic.

Starting to see some timidity from some of our shooters. Golden's 3 attempt toward the end of the Duquesne game (as others have noted - not the shot we wanted down 3) came after several players passed on taking the shot.

We need better 3 defense, too. Teams are routinely shooting above their percentages against us.

"Highs and Lows" 17.......highs and lows.

He’s been invisible quite a few games this year. Unfortunate for him because he has potential, but is being forced to play minutes he shouldn’t as a freshman because we have no one else.
When your perimeter shot isn't going down, how about driving to the lane once in a while? At 6'4" much better chance at shot not being blocked than Gilyard. And if nothing else, get fouled. Should have strategy of him getting to line as much as possible, since he might actually make his FTs. But not counting on Mooney & Co. changing anything that might make sense.

our games fit two patterns - 1) we start out terrible down 10 or 12 and then make some kind of "comeback" but "too little, too late" or 2) we lead or stay close most of the game, but collapse in last 5 minutes. Today was the first option - but neither option works.......................except in the "suspense" of how low will we go in wins and how high will we go in losses?

Unless I didn't hear the announcers correctly today before the game, I thought I heard them say something to the effect of "2 elite coaches". There ya go. What do the announcers know that we haven't figured out or our record hasn't figured out?

Just got home and saw 75-62, expected but not that bad. Though went over play-by-play and Mooney's team was down 20 with 16 minutes to play! Mooney just flat out has to go!

Will there be another article about starting slow? Believe we were down 9-0 in this one.

In 13.5 years, you can see patterns that repeat. If anyone thinks it’s going to get better, it’s not

What was your evaluation of the DEFENSE today? Same # of points as we gave up to Duquense?

They most certainly did (see my previous post)

CM and snowflake BB blaming CM’s deficient game plan strategy on the Davidson 3’s

CM said in post game interview that Davidson made some impressive shots and that there were not many defensive breakdowns. CM must not have seen the game. Davidson with great looks from 3 all game.

Sorry DT, I read that but must have forgotten. When I heard the "elite coach" statement I was taken aback. Where do they get this stuff? Are they reading from 2011 cheat sheets?
