Forecast for Coppin State

Losing tonight is a fire on the spot offense. Unless 22 year old Juan Dixon suits up, we should be good tonight.
Yep a loss and Mooney shouldn't get back into the locker room. It will be a win. No one wants to see a loss to these guys even if it would cure the Mooney disease. We used to have this disease called Pollio. That eventually passed and we could walk again before running.

Coppin State is bad. Really bad.

About 3000 in here tonight. Good sections still available.

Coppin st. Is terrible. But still good to see us knocking down shots. Also, enjoying us giving some bench minutes. Really impressed with Sal’s agility for a bigger guy.

Agree.

A win will be good & another game for younger players to get game time experience, but this game won't tell us much.

Not sure about Oral Roberts, but the next real test will be ODU.

Juan Dixon was a good to great college player, and I'm sure he made some money in the pros. He's not a Division I coach.

To be fair, not many of the the Coppin st. players seem to be D1 basketball players either.

Also, I weirdly am happy that this is not the win that Mooney broke the record with. Granted, the record is more indicative of longevity than anything else, but I like the symmetry of Wake Forest (first for DT, breaking for Moon), and that it was an ACC team (even as bad of an ACC team that they are this year).

Verbinski and Schneider to transfer if they want any sort of meaningful minutes moving forward. Unfortunately just don’t look to have the current ability or the potential to be impactful.

Yep. No one there and the quietest it has been in a long time. I hope it is being noticed by the right people.

Bob black said Verbinski looked really good in summer but had some setbacks with injury and illness. Not sure what to make of him really. We only got a few minutes

Thoughts on game:

Coppin State is a very bad team so hard to gauge on overall improvements we made as a team, but several positives tonight.

1. Like the aggressiveness from Andre. Had a couple of nice steals and drives to the basket.

2. Good bench play from Yates and Sal knocking down some big 3s

3. Grace with a couple of nice assists to a cutting Andre. Ball movement was nice.

4. One particular defensive play stood out to me was when Wojick slid over for help defense and took a charge. Need to keep that up.

5. We didn’t play down to the competition. We beat a team we were supposed to beat and it was convincing the entire 40 minutes.

Hopefully this carries some positive momentum going into the final stretch of OOC play.

Have to agree, we saw why they are not playing.

Anyone heard anymore about Cayo’s turned ankle?

Post game comments make me believe it was not much to it, should not hinder him going forward

This is what a real program does to Coppin St/Longwood/Hampton- happy for the guys that they put it together like this last night.

We need to give him a chance since he was out with injury and illness. The was his first action since then. I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Also, he did look much better the more he played last night.

I thought Bryce was fine. Tomas looked a bit uncomfortable and didn't impress me as being as athletic as those he is likely competing against for time (JJ/Sal/Noah). I'm sure he'll mature and improve and if his injury has slowed his progression, hoepfully it becomes less of an issue with time.

most importantly the starters were dominant in their cameos. great to see Jacob knocking down shots again. Bob said they were wide open but I didn't think so. looked fairly contested. he's got great soft touch from deep.

Bryce showed great energy. glad he hit that 3.
Tomas' made 3 was pretty. we know he can shoot. he lumbered out there though. likely not 100%.

JJ's hitting enough 3's lately to believe it's not a fluke, and that's two games in a row where Noah looks like a real shooter. Sal got on the board from deep. maybe we're turning the corner as a 3 point shooting team.

We had a lot of wide open threes, I think that had something to do with making them. But that's still good, if we weren't making them wide open then that would be concerning.

Verbinkis looks like Friendshuh. Not able to keep up with the speed of the college game mentally. His head was on a swivel the entire time out there.
