Fire Stallings!!!!!!

It’s the new version of Andrew White III

Yep, we will be talking about this for the next 5 or so years. Hopefully people won't become as spiteful towards Bryce as they did towards AWIII.

Yes I'm new here. I don't think that should mean I have to suck up to others and agree with everything they say. I don't care if he is someone who has been here a day or 10 years, acting rude is acting rude. Bringing up how long I have been on the forum has nothing to do with this. I only responded the way I did due to how I viewed him responding to me. But this is between me and him and I mean no disrespect to him. I've already moved on from this with him. I'm not going to let 5 posts get in the way of my potential interactions with someone who I know is a diehard Spiders fan. Heat of the moment, nothing else.
Disturbing that a new poster believes another poster is rude with a contrary opinion. Truly no offense, but I am concerned that snowflakes have found Spidernation.

"He'll consider he options."

Lets see. Come to an absolute dumpster fire at Richmond or play for Thad Matta at Pitt. It's really not that hard. Even if he doesn't go to Pitt he won't be a Spider

I mean, you asked him some specific questions and he gave you some specific answers. That's not condescending, IMO.
The /pats head/ thing was pretty condescending.

There’s an untenable level of rancor on here these days. Everyone needs to get a cocktail and some quaaludes and show back up next fall with a refreshed interest in our program.

FTR, I think you'll see that he unnecessarily called me "condescending" simply for having a differing viewpoint. He asked me several questions and I answered them.

I later patted him on the head. Figured if I'm going to be called condescending for no resson, I'll go ahead and be condescending.

Moving on.

I tend to agree that it's just time to shut it down for the spring and start over again in the fall. It's been a long winter. That said, my point holds. We joined the A10 to be in the toughest league we could be in. We are not in this league simply to win the conference tourney, even though that's the only path to the tourney that we've been programmed to accept for ourselves now. Please forgive me for attempting some "deprogramming" for one of our newer members.

My suggestion to all is -- when someone posts in a manner that rubs you wrong, take a few deep breaths and relax before responding. Answer a question, respond to a comment, but let the deprogramming work itself out

You ever consider being a Priest or a Marraige Counselor or something like that? Probably would have been much more fulfilling than message board adminiatrator. :)

This message board would have a lot less venom and more thought behind every post if the posts were not anonymized behind monikers and user names. Your real name and picture beside each post would tone things down. Not saying people would not still get negative, just way less negative that it has gotten to.

Ever think he might not get along great with his bro and there isnt a chance in hell he wants to b on the same team as him or go to the same school. I think if he wanted to play w his brother it would have happen right away.

Not difficult to know who most posters are - any social media is fair game for identification purposes....

he can have an amazing relationship with Grant and still not choose to play here. and that's ok. everyone chooses their own path.

but we do have a better shot today than we did yesterday, now that he said he'll consider his options. Bryce likely still stays at Pitt when they find a good new coach. he'll likely have great options if he leaves. but there's a chance and there's a starting spot available here at the 4. no point giving up now.

Agree Spiderman, would think we have some type of shot now. The bad part is now Pitt may get a good coach that can re-sell him on the decision. He did commit to Stallings, so as bad as he seems (Stallings), this seem to be a positive for Richmond.

I agree this is probably a very long shot, but this is the type of luck/persistence/take em any way you can occurrence we need to stringing together back to back classes. As we know, we seemed to take some years off prior to the Buck/Sherod/Golden class.

We have a poster who threatened to go egg/TP/fork Keith Gill's house and publish his address on the message boards, constantly insults other members and claims they're not "true fans" if they don't share his views. He's likely just "message board tough" but no way in hell those of us with families would want them exposed to someone like that.

That being said, I'd gladly introduce myself to the vast majority of the posters IRL at a game over a beer/bourbon, including the ones you probably consider venomous and those I usually disagree with. We all want the program(s) to succeed.

hopefully the Bryce story turns out a lot like the Marshall Wood situation. we recruited Marshall hard out of HS and we were close but he chose VT. when VT didn't work out, his 1st look was at his 2nd choice.

During the "Cooper as president" days I contacted all BOT members of the school by email. One member who disliked my views published my email on this message board. Most people would not do that and respect and are not threatened by those who disagree with them. Whenever one posts thoughts in a public forum being "thin skinned" is a nonstarter.

As far as Bryce spiderman your thoughts are totally on target. Ended up meeting and talking with Marshall's parents at a couple of games and already know that the Goldens are a great family.

Agree with Moliva on the "strong conference" argument. We did move to the A10 to play better competition and be able to compete for at large bids.

I was actually against the move from the CAA at the time. I thought we could win that tournament every other year, and was afraid of being able to compete with the big state schools (umass, uri) that could move lessor students through the hoops program.
JB showed it can be done.

And since we did make the move - we need to be all in. I wish we were still competing against the great Chris Mack and Xavier. and Butler was still in the conference. Now, we seem to be very happy that we can compete .500 against a mediocre league. That gets you somewhere every 15 years.

Back to the more important issues. What type of/school's hoodie is Bryce wearing at the A10 tourney?

At least there will not be any VCU coach/school private jets/chesterfield airport watch/updates during March Madness this year.

The "mediocre" league has three teams in the tournament. More than the PAC12. Hmmmmm.

While this is true, Pac-12 could have had another in had USC beat Arizona in the final. Yes we should be happy to get 3 teams in the tourney given how things looked a week ago, but with how things looked in November when tip-off happened we would be disappointed to know we were getting 3 teams in and one of them only got in from winning the conference tourney.

The longer time of no announcement, the less likely it seems a step though Bryce will transfer. Normally players make an announcement within one week that they are asking for a release. Just like the other Pitt recruit. Bryce could potentially be waiting to see who the next head coach will be before making a decision.

It's a shame because I think Bryce is a perfect fit for our team and will excel a lot here. However, I wish him the best of success if he chooses to remain with Pitt.

yes, very possible he stays. I'm holding out hope that he doesn't feel rushed to make a decision to get out in the market. he might already know his choice if he does leave.

The fact that we aren't really recruiting anyone prominent now is interesting.
Do you know this for sure to be a fact? Just because its not being covered in the media doesn't mean we arent recruiting. IIRC, didnt Sal's signing kind of sneak up on us? Like less then a week after finding out about him he signed? I do admit, I would prefer to hear some news regarding where we are going next with recruiting.

Yes, Mooney called and told me that he's just been sitting around all month, has no idea who to recruit, asked if I had any ideas. I said I didn't. We're F'd.

I'd like to know why (basketball-wise) you think he's a perfect fit?
