We enjoyed the golden years of the CAA under Clawson and London and even Rocco, with strong rivalry teams, JMU, WM, Nova Del, ASU, but those days are gone. The portal has killed any sort of team building. The FCS teams in the west are strong because they are drop down teams (fbs to fcs transfers). The teams in the east are jump up teams.
This is no excuse for Huesman’s qb option offense but he has lost a number of good defensive players who moved up, three off the top of my head are playing in the NFL.
I’m not Carnac, but something is going to give. The semi pros may leave and fine. I’m not sure what that does for their academic standing or if they even care.
For Richmond, there needs to be a lot of soul searching and then decide. They need to understand if they don’t already, that the current student body and the last 10 years or so of the student body makeup, just don’t care about sports and the administration does not want to change.
Upping our games to the A10 with its Northeast centered region did not spark any great enthusiasm from alums or students in that area.
ODAC is Virginia centered. Again the administration has alienated this area.
So my question would be to the Powers governing the school. What the h do you want?…..
Except our money (threw that in for us old folks, right Rick,,because I’m with you)!

As I sit here watching the FCS championship game it's obvious the power resides in the West and upper Midwest. Big offensive and defensive lines and get this, big dual threat QBs. NDSU QB is running all over Montana State. What a novel idea.

It seems to me that MT State should be keying on NDSU's QB, he went off for a 64 yard TD, with no one even close. Also MT State should be throwing the rock more. They have to generate some offense.

Only game in town.
Good point.

Lot of the powers out west are also state schools, many of those types on east coast have moved up to FBS and taken the talent and 20 extra scholarships with them. I have always thought splitting scholarships might help them keep talent closer to home but have no way of knowing if that thought process is factual. I do know they seem to always start with a 100 or more on the roster and Spiders seldom start with 90. I have said on here before I believe there is a reason a private school has only won the National Championship in FCS three times.

I have also not checked the rosters for those schools out west, but I know North Dakota State gets players from as far away as Florida at times Seems I remember a few years ago they had 3 or 4 the same year from down south.

There is little to no FBS talent in the Dakotas, Montana, Idaho, etc. So the best players stay home, and play FCS.
