Anyone have any updates on UR's plan to have any fans in attendance? I know STH received a survey about a month ago on whether they would attend or not but haven't heard any follow up since.

Show your vaccine administered card and you can attend :) :

Huge news for the world, I saw a scientist on the news this morning. Science community thought 70% would be super, initial results coming back with 90% effective - though a fairly small sample size, but significant. Hopefully the rest of the data coming backs up the initial results.

This is outstanding news.

I've had people tell me they won't get a vaccine for a long time. we don't know the long term effects.

but if you tell me I can go back to normal attending games and everything else with no mask if I get the shot, I'll be first in line upon approval.

Sman, I hear you - I know Pfizer employees that say they will not take it. I am waiting for the media tide to turn and think it already has. I am guessing that you and all your friends and family have fully vetted that rotating flu vaccine you get every year, and are well aware of the long term safety data?

The good news/bad news is that I would guess we will all (other than front line workers and high risk population) have at least another 3 months of safety data prior to having it available. Likely will have a couple more available by that time as well.

What would really suck would be if we can't have fans but our away opponents can.
That could definitely happen for OOC games. You can see the number of fans at football games varies significantly. I would think the A10 would set a cap for in conference games.

You can sound confident now, but if the near term numbers continue to trend in the current direction, I really don't see how you will be able to justify having 1,000 fans in an indoor arena. Vaccine emergency approval AND distribution to masses is still going to take some time despite my optimism on the Pfizer news. Short term hope is that ramped up testing can curb things quite a bit.

The 1000, in Virginia, will include everyone in the building. Teams, staff, officials, etc. Once you account for those numbers and families, I wouldn’t count on many fans (if any) being allowed in the building. And the school has to consider student attendance in that equation too.

Exactly. UR has taken enormous precautions with COVID and it has paid off handsomely. I just don't see them going against those precautions, especially with the numbers rising as they are right now. Frankly, I am expecting more restrictions but in place over the winter not less.

The news on the vaccine front this week is extremely positive though. Gives us all some hope that their is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I agree the news this week has been very positive about COVID-19. Moderna is about to come out with similar news about their vaccine.

K, apparently their are several vaccine makers, Moderna being one, who basically operate off the same premises as the Pfizer vaccine. So, the Pfizer vaccine working is not only good news for their vaccine but all of the other vaccines that have attacked COVID from a similar angle.

I'm not a vaccine expert but I do follow them many of them on social media, FYI. The public health experts have been nothing but doom and gloom since this pandemic started. They were really excited and optimistic about this news though.

Vaccine isn't going to help us in time for college hoops season though:(

I think we should pack the RC and then have everyone flood the court after our first win, just like Notre Dame did last weekend in football. What could go wrong?

maybe you should do some research on the "public health experts". They are part of the panic porn culture and not surprisingly they have a financial stake in the vaccine world.

Do some research on Scott Geottleib......Been on CBS/CNBC for 8 months and not once have they stated he is on the board of Pfizer....

Zeke Emmanuel, now on the Senile Joe's Task force, has been going on TV spouting porn while at the same time consulting businesses on how to manage this.

Look most of DC--they are not the solution they are part of the problem.

That all being said, whether there is 1 fan or 1000, looking forward to opening night in 10 days.

And all this great news comes out on November 9th... how ironic, lol.

Set up a basketball court in Robins Stadium - the fresh air would help with alleviating transmission of Coronavirus - but no storming of the field.

The new limit for indoor sports venues is 250 (or 30% of capacity, whichever is smaller).

Yes, it does...section 12 of the executive order.

The total number of attendees (including both participants and spectators) cannot exceed the lesser of 30% of the lowest occupancy load on the certificate of occupancy, if applicable, or 250 persons.

This sucks of course, but it's the right move in order to have any season at all. We're fortunate that things in Virginia aren't as bad as they are in most other states, but we're heading that way. Scaling back hopefully buys us a little more time and reduces the rush of hospitals filling up the way they are elsewhere.
