Fallout from Stallings dismissal

In other words, I’m here to go to Pitt or Richmond. And I’m all out of Pitt...

???
This seems very promising. If it was between only Pitt and UR and there isnt really a ton of time to visit other schools, It would seem very oossible that he makes the easy and obvious choice.

One thing I couldn’t find is if the enrolled players are immediately eligible if they transfer. What I read didn’t note any exceptions that would allow immediate eligibility but couldn’t find anything definitive.

This is irrelevant for Bryce as he’s under NLI and not enrolled, just was curious.
Transfers have to sit out unless they qualify for a hardship waiver or they’re grad transfers.

Bryce needs to be released in order to sign elsewhere. Otherwise he has to sit and loses a year of eligibility. Shouldn’t be an issue getting the release though.

didn't NCAA place a prohibition on transferring to the new school of the coach also?

And frankly if our fan base wasn't grumpy about that, it would really show that we don't care all that much about winning.
So the more you demand Chris Mooney's head, the more likely a top recruit will choose Richmond. This one of the most moronic assertions made by the Fire Mooney crowd.

I hope you're right. but like anyone else who transfers, once you get your release opportunities suddenly pop up if you're really good. he knows us best. doesn't mean he won't get to know others quickly.

Never seen anything like this. Either some recycled out-of-work coach with a P5/6 history will get overpaid to go to that mess, or Pitt goes cheap with a no name who's dying for chance for stardom on the big stage. I'm guessing the cheap route?

Considering the buyout they’re going to have to pay, probably cheap.

Rumors pretty heavy that Sean Miller is involved. It's his alma mater, so who knows. The cloud around him makes everything uncertain and nothing surprising.

they're in the ACC. they're not going with a cheap option at coach. someone with a good name will take the job. it's a total rebuild so they'll have time.

I feel like UConn would be a bad choice. You're following a legend (Calhoun) who won 3 national championships and a second coach (Ollie) who was fired just 4 years removed from a national championship. Just seems to me like a hard place to recruit, a fan base that will expect a quick national championship and a team that is currently in the American Conference (much less prestigious than the former Big East). I'm just not sure UConn fans would endure the long term rebuilding process it's likely to take if Hurley is their coach (took him 5 years to reach his first NCAA tourney with URI).

Go, I was thinking the same thing about Hurley and Uconn, if he goes there my money would be on a monumental flame out in 2-3 years. I really think the guy is in the perfect spot. Though they are losing a lot, probably return best back court in conference in Fatts and Dowtin and Langevine is tough inside. He has shown he can recruit better than the rest of the conference. As Shaka would say: Don't run from happines. Admin is supportive, lot of positives.

If I am Hurley I wait. UConn job isn’t what it was now that they aren’t in the Big East. PiTt would be okay but don’t trust their admin plus major rebuild. He has a good recruiting class coming in. If he wants he can wait for the right opportunity.

both jobs have a lot of "win pressure" in places where it might be difficult to satisfy. we'll see how much money URI is willing to spend to keep him. this could be a leverage play. if he can get a big bump, he'll stay and win every year.

“In addition, Pittsburgh's lone remaining recruit, four-star guard Bryce Golden, told ESPN he's also requested his release from Pittsburgh.”

When was the last time we recruited a four star guard who was 6’ 9”? That’s like getting Magic Johnson or something? Lol

Bryce is not a guard, he is a forward. I saw that tweet as well, most likely someone just being hasty on twitter.

Don’t forget about the Hurley “Ego”. He wants to move up the ladder quickly. Pitt and especially UConn have admissions that are almost as easy as URI. He would more than double his salary at either school.

I heard this today too from a Pitt alum. They are not too happy about that.

LaSalle coach canned today too.
It is a no brainer. They offer and he accepts. Schmidt is decent, but he can not take Pitt were they want to be in the ACC. 3 or 4 years, he'll be fired. But, he will have gotten his money and he will be set for life, good for him.
