I find it very interesting that on the official UR website the email addresses of every single member of the Athletic Department are listed with the exception of 3, Head Football Coach Rocco, Head Women's BBall Coach Shafer and Head Men's BBall Coach Chris Mooney.

The email address of Athletic Director Keith Gill is athleticdirector @Richmond.edu.

I believe there are many loyal and concerned Spider fans on this forum who believe Coach Mooney's tactics this season have been less than acceptable, especially regarding the playing time of TJ Cline.
If you add up all the possible playing minutes that TJ has missed and calculate how many points he likely could have scored, it is easy to see that the results of at least several of these close games we have lost would be different, i.e., we could have won.
Apparently his strategy is not going to change and his assistant coaches are not going to provide him any constructive input. Each of you may have your own issues.

I suggest that supporters write an email to Keith Gill describing the issues and concerns they have with this season's results and direction. I suggest these emails be short and to the point, that they be positive and supportive in nature and respectful in every regard.
While I enjoy being a participant on this forum and respect the right of every member to their opinions, I believe it is time to make some of our feelings known rather than just continuing to vent our frustrations here. I do not expect our Coach or AD to read or pay any attention to this board. (Evidently only Matt Smith does that.)

It is sad to say that after Kendall missed the front end of a one-and-one going into halftime of the GM game I sat through the entire second half just saying to myself "how will we find a way to lose this one". So, no more venting here for me. I'm going to voice my concern in an email to Keith Gill and I hope enough of you will too so that it might make a difference or at least cause some questions to be asked. Maybe not, but it's worth a try as I do not want to feel that negative about a Spider game again without attempting to do SOMETHING about it. Thanks.

don't know but would suggest that KG reads these forums and gets your point. does not mean he will agree with your opinions and that any action will be taken. if it makes you feel better then do it but seriously doubt emails will cause any action other than what he may already be thinking. he has already told one poster here that he does not agree with the TJ minutes agenda on here. we have opinions and that is all good but does not mean that all agree, nothing wrong with that.

I am glad we are able to talk about what we think is going towards losing. What problem does it cause for him if we talk about this TJ minutes ? What we say does not change the minutes. What we say does not win or lose games. What we say does not pay any money for workers. So it means to me that what we say hurts feelings. I am sorry for this. So I will be quiet and watch then no problem.

I've sent my emails to kgill@richmond.edu before and have gotten a response from him, always signed "KAG"

Can you clarify your statement & wording, "He has already told one poster here that he does not agree with the TJ minutes agenda on here".

Are saying or implying that 1) he doesn't think we should be discussing it on the site (i.e. - agenda), or 2) are you implying that he's OK with the minutes TJ is getting?

Sorry for asking for clarity, & I'm assuming it's point 1) above, but I just want to make sure I'm getting the actual implication.

I have spoken with the athletics department about things like SpiderTV. I would never think to talk to them about personnel decisions. I don't think it's in the AD's job description, to be concerned with how many minutes, a player gets on the court. That's a decision, solely up to the coach, and will vary from game to game. That said, I'm a fan of TJ, and expect him to have a great career at UR.

I would certainly hope that Gill would not comment or discuss what a coach is doing or not doing. In addition ,I would hope you certainly would not post his response . Thats between you and him. Not us.

Thank you R&B, I would hope KG will leave the decisions to the Coach. Certainly after the season is over I would hope he would sit down with Chris and review our situation. I also agree any responses should not be shared publicly, unless Keith asked that it be done.

Just emailed Gill with my frustrations, and he emailed back, said he's planning to fire Mooney if we lose another game this year and hire Jim Calhoun to finish out the season. Then he expects to go after the Northern Iowa coach because he heard what @ssclowns their football fans were on this board a few years ago and he really wants to stick it to them.

Who knew? All you have to do is ask sometimes!

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING ABOUT KEITH GILL

Jeff Jones, American University Head Men's Basketball Coach
"I am certainly familiar with the University of Richmond, so when Keith asked me about the school and the position, I didn't hesitate in telling him Richmond would be the perfect situation for him - with academics and athletics.

"Both as a person and as an athletic director, Keith is an extremely positive individual. He is not a guy who thinks, 'we can't do that'. Instead, he says, 'how can we accomplish what we want to do'? He did a fantastic job at AU. He moved the needle and really made a difference. Keith has great energy that will be contagious to everyone around him. He will be very visible but he's not looking to get attention. He's a great listener. And as a coach, I can tell you he will do everything he can for the coaches to be successful and the student-athletes to have the best experience possible."

At the end of the season he will have had 3 seasons to evaluate Mooney- It will be interesting to see what he and the coach devise as a strategy to "move the needle"!!!!!!!!

The head basketball coach at UR is a tremendous job. The program is financially supported, plays in one of the nicest arenas in the country, can offer a student athlete a world class education while playing at the top level of D1 hoops, and pays over a million plus a year. Given all of this, we as supporters of the program deserve more than what we are currently getting. Not making the NCAA tournament 4 consecutive years is simply unacceptable. I hope that CM is the man who can lead us to compete at the top of the A10 most every year and make the NCAA Tournament more years than not. There is value in having stability at the top of the program, but not at the expense of winning. After the consistent mediocre results of the past 4 years, its hard to make a case that CM is the man for the job. I hope he gets next year to turn things around. I, along with everyone else here, is sick of waiting for next year. However, we do add MW and return everyone except Anthony. We sho Yuri ld be a really strong team. I hope CM and staff take a long look at how they manage games and emphasize some different philosophies, like rebounding, in the off-season.

For the rest of this year, lets sweep RPI and see what happens in the A10 tournament.

Wrote him thanking him for Coach Mooney and the wonderful program he has built.

I strongly suspect Keith Gill will give Mooney beyond the 2015-16 season but I also suspect that many fans will give Mooney one more year but probably call it quits on tickets, etc after next year. It may happen after this year for all I know.

Our inability to capitalize on the new arena and ride a wave of momentum because it is probably the worst part of this whole deal.

Could you provide the details you provided as to how the program over 10 years has been wonderful?

Gill just wrote me back again. He is worried about you. Thinks you may have suffered some head trauma recently. Suggested a few specialists.

We have about 3k STH. A fair amount of them don't always show, as is. It can definitely get worse.

SPIDER GUY, have no details but one of our posters in the past month said on here that he had approached KG at a game or other function and complained about the minutes TJ was getting and KG did not agree. like Fan said above, not the duty or responsibility of an athletic director to be consulting a coach of any sport on the minutes logged by a player. am sure KG would never say this but i will, makes me laugh and sad at the same time.

I have no issue with fans getting involved and sending emails or letters to the AD to sound off their disappointment in a coach that the fans support through season tickets and donations. But there is no need to complain about specifics - like TJ's minutes. Yes - you could go back and argue with all the minutes that TJ did not play, he could have scored more points, which POSSIBLY could have been the difference between winning and losing. BUT - then you would also have to factor in that Cline is not a very good defender and therefore would give up more points, and he is not a very good rebounder - which also might lead to more points. Not to mention - in some games he has experienced foul trouble - how do you factor in his higher chance of fouling out and not being available at the end of games?

Its pointless - I agree, this season, along with the last 2 have been very disappointing. Just voice that opinion and nothing else.

Some on here have asked for a clear message on the mission of our program from the administration - well, they will give you one in the next year or two by their actions and not words. I fully expect Mooney to be back next year, and rightfully so - even if we make no postseason this year, no even the CBI - which is not really the post-season. But lets say next season we have a similar result - and they bring him back again. Then the school is telling us - they are okay with mediocrity and are not serious about becoming a meaningful basketball program. Plain and simple. Sometimes - the words are in the actions.

Mo, I have been an STH since 1980 and I always go to the games. My kids love the games. Many of the people that sit around me haven't shown very often this year. Sad to see.

This was the year to be building towards, all league sr guard, 2 RS Jrs, 2 other juniors who have been playing since their freshman years and look where we are. A .500 team who can't win a game away from home. We lose that all league guard next year, I don't expect things to be better. Hopefully, our AD doesn't need us morons to email him to tell him all that. Hopefully he's smart enough to use his own powers of deduction to realize our program is not in a good place right now.

I will write him and say when TJ Cline (1) doesn't get winded after 4 minutes of PT; (2) stops picking up fouls in the first 3 minutes of games; and (3) stops letting the team's best outside shooter jack up threes as TJ sags off him, then maybe he should play more minutes.

Don't get me wrong--I think TJ is a really, really strong offensive player. But TJ Cline playing 29 minutes instead of 22 isn't going to make all the other problems go away.

It kind of feels like "TJ Cline Minutes" is our version of the backup quarterback.

Well, ok then.
My email simply said I'd like you to know I, and I believe many other long time supporters, are frustrated with the current season results and apparent direction of the program. Period.

In the meantime I will wait anxiously each game to see if we lose because our tiny guards get caught on defensive switches and have a hard time making big plays at end of games, or because we get killed on the offensive boards or because we often play 3 on 5 offensively or because our most versatile player is sitting on the bench.

As I've stated before here "Hope is Not a Good Strategy". That seems to be what's left.

Kneepak. Guess those minutes are better going to Deion Talylor that does the same things on defense, but gives you 0.0 points in return???
