Rumors are going around that he turned down Pitt already in anticipation of other job openings.
I wonder if he agreed to step down because with an $80 million endowment there was no point in suing for the buyout?

$80 million dollar endowment? That's way bigger than Longwood's and on par with Purple! How can they be broke and the state schools be alive and well?

Longwood got $28 million in state appropriations last year...it would take an endowment of over half a billion to generate that amount of income.
JMU got $87 million from the state, which would need an endowment of $1.75 billion to generate.
