Delo's foot injury - Out through early March

This sucks. I expect we'll be seeing 30+ minutes of Tyne and B. Artis with some Graham mixed in. This is a huge stretch for Tyne...as has been discussed in other threads, he's had a pretty rough year so far. Would love if he can turn things around.

Can we please give GW3 some run??? This is a lost season, might as well see what you have there.

Injuries suck. Reality of sports tho. DLo has always been a gamer and played hard. Hopefully he gets back a little sooner than predicted.

We were basically an 8 deep team b4 injury. if 1 of the redshirts had already been playing maybe this could be managed better

Yeah we could see GW3 have a real reason to take off the warm up. Personally I'd like to get a look. Although I agree w MDSpider Graham seems next in line. Which if he's better & more prepared he should play ahead.

Sorry to hear about DLo. Been a great contributor and leader for these two seasons. A guy that brings it on both ends of the court every night.

Would like to see GW3 get some run. I get it that top 100 guys wash out, but think have to give him a shot to see what he can do now. Hopefully B. Artis will stay healthy and get in a groove. If not it could really get ugly.

Also, interesting pic they use in press release. On the 1 hand it's a good representation of DLo's intensity. There is no dispute he has always brought that to the court & it will be missed.

On the other kinda selfish play not passing the ball. That was play I mentioned on in-game thread. But that's not really the point. Check out Nesko. On that play I can understand him saying WTF. But if there r 2 supplemental things I've noticed this season. 1. GW3's odd no warm up shirt on bench. #1 is easy. And 2. Nesko throws up his hands like that quite often.

Both bad body language...imo

Yes, pointed out the bad body language on another thread. And, ball moves so slow - last play vs GMU prime example. Was watching a game the other night of a Kenpom top 40 team - and the ball movement, body language, and energy was just so much different. I get it too, if I was on this team I would dread practice every day and it would be tough to be positive.

From today's press conference:

  • Mooney says some other guards besides Tyne and B. Artis will get opportunities, and they'll also try some one-guard lineups (I assume this means Roche or Tanner at the 2).
  • He has no idea of DeLonnie will be able to return this season.
  • JOC asks if this is his possible season of eligibility as a Spider. CM says "I have no idea." (It should be, unless the NCAA ends up granting 5 years of eligibility to everyone this summer . D-Lo got a free year from COVID).
  • They are going to tinker with things a solid amount - lineups, offensive sets, etc.

Nesko is intense. He is not afraid to yell at his teammates. I don't know how they all feel about it. He could just be a super intense guy on the court.

But weird picture for them to use for press release. We must have thousands of pics of D-Lo and they chose the one where he is going 1 on 2 with a wide open teammate yelling WTF in the background.

Terrible news for Hunt. Not sure about the other year of eligibility. But I see no reason for him to suit up for the Spiders again this year. Right now his focus should be getting healthy for a pro career in the G-League or overseas. He has enough film this year and last to make that happen.

For the spiders and Mooney - this provides the perfect cover to play more players, and experiment. Expectations are gone. He has a reason now to pin the poor record on - loss leader and best player in Hunt, so why not now play for the future. Get guys minutes and experience, try different lineups, defenses, etc. Everything and anything should be on the table as an option. If we lose by 20 - who cares. That is almost the expectation now. So try everything and build for next year.

The eligibility response was spoken as a joke and they all laughed. I don't think any of them thought he really has eligibility left. Given DLo played 5 years and has no case for a medical redshirt. But I guess had to be asked in these times because the NCAA now acts like everyone gets perpetual eligibility.

As I mentioned above, if we go with lineups with less traditional guards, as Moon noted, wouldn't it have been nice to have MCGloth or JRob in that mix to play more esp if they had been getting some run earlier.
