Danny Rocco

Didn't express myself well. That's it MO. We have our program to run. We obviously made concessions to keep him. Put an expiration on it. We can't be left hanging while he works other schools. Put the heat on him to make up his mind. If he doesn't then current contract stands and everything will have to be renegotiated. Don't let him hold both ends of the stick.

Change the locks on him while he is In Philly.

Agents are much smarter than posters...

Wonder what Danny's severence payment without cause termination would be?Give it a shot.I think his agent's got KG by his ____.Love it.LOL.

You're not understanding. Don't fire him. Just don't offer him anything more than he already has in his current deal. Effectively, you make him walk.

We all need to move on and get on with our business. There's a recruiting class to build and existing players that need attention.

Thanks for the insult 32. I won't bother you with anymore of my ignorant posts.

Yup, this whole thing has gotten stupid. Either he wants to be here or not.

You are NOT ignorant by any means. That was not my implication. If anyone is ignorant,it's me.Apologies,please. Danny's agent has the braintrusts frozen inside RC while they stare at oncoming headlights.

I understand perfectly fine.Been involved with these kind of deals for many, many years. Not at such a small scale.

You cannot make Danny walk. That's what you don't understand.UR doesn't want him and he doesn't want them. He's not crazy to leave without another job.You will keep paying him until he has another job and only with his timing being the dictate. You owe him $9,000 per week for the next 54 weeks. That's a way to get rid of him tomorrow.Pay him $475,000 tomorrow.

Then get ready to pay Chatty $700,000 for Russ' services as a transfer fee.

That's an easy solution of $1,100,000 among friends.

KG can't buy a stapler without a purchase order with 30 days lead time.

Taking the proposal to BOT would likely get at least one of them fired.

This would scare the ____ out of he and Crutcher especially when JOC goes pen to paper for RTD consumption.

"Walk" = "Accept Delaware Job"

We'll probaby get some modest buyout off Delaware too. I'm not necessarily saying I want Russ, but it's probably more like $500k net after Delaware pays us.

I was expecting to have closure on this and know the outcome by tonight. Interesting that Temple is now seriously in the mix. It certainly looks like some other schools can see what we may have failed to see, that we have a REALLY GOOD coach, and one deserving of a nice raise.

It definitely looks like this will not end well for the Spiders, but we can hold out hope, and get very busy with our succession planning and our list of top candidates to contact NOW....

What's the deal with quoting posts without any comment?
I've seen this done by others but do not understand its meaning or implication.
Please explain what this means.

Seems like maybe we've overspent on the head coach. What good is the 2nd highest paid head coach if you can't afford money for assistants, basic gear for players, weight rooms, etc. apparently we put all eggs in one basket.

Looks like several coaches have showed no interest or been passed over for the Temple job, including ODU's Wilder. Big donors kicked in to offer Wilder a new contract for a few more years with a raise and incentives. He was making about $555,000, not sure what the raise was.

I believe the 2nd highest paid HC in FCS had a lot to do with how those funds were (weren't) distributed .

Welcome to the world of college athletics, circa 2016. DR is like a 32-year-old baseball player, who has one big contract left in his career, one final chance to cash in. This is his last payday and he has to do what is best for him. Carpe diem, baby.

If he walks, so be it. If we work something out, great. I follow UR football as closely as possible from the Left Coast and have not heard him complain (for the lack of a better term) about anything until the past few weeks. Compared to our peer group (4000 private school), it seems we support football pretty well.

And everyone spouting off here about how UR admins are screwing the pooch, he does have one year left on his contract. Why no criticism of him potentially not living up to the terms of an agreement he willingly signed?

The buyout for Russ is not close to 700. 4 yrs left at 150. But that's on him. Yes the real big boys in BCS can pay buyouts, many others do not. As Moliva stated we'll get something small back from UD, Russ lawyers up and UTC settles for something less than full amount to make it quick and painless, Russ probably structures it so it can get paid over many years not upfront, he gets double the salary at UR making it feasible, UR kicks in what we get from UD and maybe slightly more if we really want him. It is expensive to make big hires but I dont see this buyout as any kind of dealbreaker. UR would be on hook for 200k tops imo.

32 has some interesting things to say after being so incredibly wrong about the UD stuff when it first started yet now he's the expert. Hmm.

What you say?Not a Math major I presume.I'll work with ya on your hypotheticals.Keep the BS flowing.UTC will get the full check from UR for Russ' termination liability of $700k.Lawyer up? Silly statement.Russ makes $230k.Why would he pay any of this termination out of his new found UR salary. How dumb!Glossing over fundamentals by a stating a quick fix which Russ will handle is blatantly absurd.Hopefully, you don't represent yourself in these kinds of negotiations. When you know Danny's offset termination liability come back with some facts.

Russ will be a good choice if Danny goes to Temple because UR will also need his staff brought up from Chatty.

If Danny goes to UD,we'll still have remnants from the old staff which Garrett can backfill with new folks.

Too bad UR didn't put these future termination monies that we are about to pay toward either weight room or locker room or shower room improvements which Danny had on his Christmas list.Oops.Too late.

BTW I never thought that Danny would leave UR for UD.He must be terribly desperate to get out of Dodge.New-Ark is desperate for Danny too.A perfect marriage. It cost me 2 cases of Delaware beer to bet against Mr MO if there is a Hen outcome.

Oh wow... if he is an owl is it a push?

No way DR is temple coach. They want fbs coaches which I think is a mistake. I personally think the overall coaching talent at top 1-AA programs exceeds most mid- lower tier fbs schools

Ok let's pay 700k, why not a million, how about 2 mil? The employee is responsible for the buyout. Ole Jer paid his buyout to UR, Beilein his to WVU going to Mich. Negotiated settlement of buyouts do occur. We kick in a little. What I described is not atypical. Danny to UD doesn't just cost u beer. Remember you're done with UR. I presume we're reading your last few posts.

Your comparisons are irrelevant.Russ makes even a pittance compared to Beilein even 12 years ago.Good try. What we received from WVa was nothing.Talk about being out of touch with reality.Sounds like you're a big shot with throwing around those big numbers.Maybe you can finance Russ' termination liability for him.Give him a good interest rate and he'll be your friend for life.LOL.

Didn't say a word about what we received from WVA. reread then go back & edit your post. Little strange you think all new employers pay the full buyout terms on behalf of employee. But that's fine we disagree. Not sure that called for you busting out "fungus sheets" but hey this is a big day for you, likely your last on the boards after you are officially done with the Spiders. U deserve some leeway.

Look, guys, you both have valid opinions and points to make. The rest of us welcome those from both of you. No one is correct all the time, and especially with respect to a fluid situation as is the one at hand. Our getting upset with each other is not cool. No one on here initially intends their post to offend someone else, though there are exceptions such as TeamRican1...and maybe one or two others. But they are cast from a different mold. We are all loyal Spider fans.

Plus, I need to point out that confrontation of such a nature on this board has been copyrighted by Spinner and me (reg.# 7659839-15), and we have agreed to take our disagreements to the OT board. I bring this up now because you both mentioned the topic of litigation. So, in that regard, please accept this as official notice of our objection to your infringement of our copyright to which we strenuously object.

Persist at your own peril.

Done with the aspect of financially supporting the school. You had that part wrong.Unless you can finance that too along with Russ' termination liability.I'm really impressed on how you throw those big numbers around.Very impressed.

actually little i, am right each and every time.

what temple wants, they probably do not get and that is why DR is even in the mix at this point, they are even more desperate than UR.

Of course, you are. You are a legend in your own mind. I got that a long time ago.
You also struggle with not having the last word. It's all part of your charm.

You have UR writing a $700k check no questions asked and I'm the one throwing around big #'s? Got it. Anyway I have to quote you now because obviously you go back & edit your posts and take out stuff after realizing u cross the line.

I guess it was wishful thinking that you were done with the board too. But hey you will never see a Richmond athletic event in person at UR ever again, never buy Spiders gear. Kinda sad but you'll be fine, you have a beach house in DE.

What you say?Lots of stuff in there.Handing to my analyst for her review.May take some time.
