Unless I've missed something in the short videos and still shots the team has been posting, I still haven't seen Crabtree in live action. Because of that, I'm not really expecting him to be a major contributor this year--he just seems like he is still recovering, and therefore behind the 8 ball.

If this is not accurate, that would be delightful.

I did not see him either Kneepad. He was cleared for "basketball activities" (whatever that means) in July, and there is a video of him working out from July 19. He looked to be moving pretty well in that one. Wondering if maybe just on a contact limit, or not scrimmaging until a certain date? Hopefully not a setback or something else.

thanks for the info 3309. I'd "like" your post ... but I don't want to like the groin pull.

Short bench from Mooney today. But have to think that Crabtree can’t have been any worse than Francis today. At least he would’ve provided some size if nothing else

I'm a fan of Crabtree, been talking him up all along. However, you could tell from watching today that he isn't ready for significant minutes yet. He may well be very effective in time, but not yet.

I assume Crabtree hasn't been practicing much due to his injury. He will likely get more time as he gets up to speed now that he is recovered. We need 3pt shooting.

From the two minutes we saw him play, I don’t know how you can assert that you could tell he wasn’t ready for significant minutes. Not saying he was, but I don’t think anyone could make that claim from how little he played and given how productive he was in that time.

He looks like he's a 25-year-old man out there. Very calm and steady. Going to be interesting to see him progress as he gets more time. He's very smooth as a shooter. Forced a couple passes that were off today and resulted in turnovers, but he'll be a very solid addition for us.

He doesn't really have to take anyone's minutes. He played 11 today. Just giving each of the starters one less minute puts him at 16. Some games he will have closer to 10 and others maybe closer to 20. All without taking too many minutes from anyone.

Crabtree currently is tied for 3 NCAA single season shooting records. Highest shooting percentage, highest 3 point percentage and highest FT percentage. If he can keep this up for 3 years and an additional redshirt year it should help our scoring. All joking aside, it is impressive that he has made his 1st 7 shots after coming off the DL

He did play a season at Tulane, remember, soo sadly, he holds none of these records...

in listening to a few interviews with Connor today, never really thought about it this way, but he’s never even practiced as a UR player until the last week or so.

Like how comfortable he looks in just a few minutes after being out for so long, I think he’s going to be a good player for us.

Tougher night tonight for him. His defense looks like it going to be a problem for awhile. Not a lot of lateral quickness and not a lot of sense what we are trying to do collectively out there. Need to keep finding him minutes given how little time he has had to even practice, but he's going to be getting the Mooney quick hook a lot. He's gonna drive CM nuts with mistakes. I think the idea with him is going to need to be that our goal is to have him ready to contribute by late in the season. Need to play him til then, but learn to live with mistakes. Its an investment at this point! But in our biggest games, I think he's going to be scarce!

The dude had two hip surgeries. Don’t think he’s going to be quick any time soon.
Agreed. Not a knock on him. Just facts. Don't think he can play real meaningful minutes with his current condition. Hopefully as with many injuries, he'll be better over the long haul. But right now, he's going to be liability on defense most nights.
