VCU athletics director Ed McLaughlin plans to sit down with basketball coach Will Wade to discuss enhancements after Wade's highly successful first season.
"We'll talk about him, we'll talk about his staff and we'll talk about the program and the things we need to do to continue to move forward," McLaughlin said. "We want to make sure he is happy, and we want to make sure he has no desire to go anywhere else for a long time."
Wade, 33, could be a target for power-conference schools after guiding VCU to a 25-11 record and nearly earning a spot in the NCAA tournament's Sweet 16 before falling 85-81 to West Region No. 2 seed Oklahoma on Sunday.
Wade, a former Rams assistant who returned after going 40-25 in two seasons at Chattanooga, agreed to a five-year contract last spring that pays him $1 million annually in base salary and supplemental compensation plus incentives.
He made $125,000 in incentives for taking the Rams to the round of 32 in the NCAA tournament and $10,000 for sharing first place in the Atlantic 10 during the regular season. He also picked up $20,000 for the team winning 20 games, as well as more than $60,000 for the Rams appearing in nationally televised games during the regular season."

"Rams will get nice payday
VCU's two games in the NCAA tournament should be worth more than an estimated $2 million for the school over the next six years.
Teams earn a "unit" for their conferences for each game they play in the tournament. Each unit for this season will be worth about $265,000.
Units aren't just a one-time deal. They are paid yearly by the NCAA to the conference for six seasons.
Conferences have different arrangements for sharing the money among their members. VCU is a member of the Atlantic 10, and the conference allows a school that earns a tournament unit to keep 63 percent of the revenue, according to VCU officials. The remaining 37 percent goes into a pool that is divided among all league members.
VCU's two games should earn the conference at least $3.1 million in the next six years. The Rams' percentage of that should be a little more $2 million.
VCU also is earning units for playing four games in the NCAA tournament in the three previous seasons it has been in the A-10."
