CBI Article

We should never do anything associated with the Gazelle group again.

After the fiasco at JPJ when we played the Hoos and the refs made sure of the predetermined winner let's hope Richmond does not elect to play in the CBI again. I can still visualize Kevin Anderson being knocked to the floor by Sean Singletary and the no call which was reported in the Charlottesville paper by the lead sports writer that there is less contact in a mugging at the Corner than in that play.

I can't even tell you past NIT winners for the most part let alone this tourny. Before joining the A10 the CBI would be an OK fit, but no way now.

I don't know, if at least 3 of your top 7 are freshman, I might consider it.

The CBI just needs to go away. If 3 of your top 7 are freshmen, give them a little extra time after a long season and then get them in D Hall and the Weight Room.

Now you got players skipping the CBI.

This tourney is basically paying a lot of money for more practice time and scrimmages after the season is over. Your probably better off saving your money and doing some Euro trip before the season the following year.

Colorado player skips CBI

some of the NIT crowds looked like CBI crowds yesterday. just expand the NCAA to 96 teams and be done with it. top 32 get 1st round byes. get rid of the secondary and tertiary postseason tournaments.

Would have to disagree there Spiderman - I do not want the tourney expanded to 96. I don't even like the first four play in games. Keep the number of participants where it is. It makes the making the tourney that much more meaningful. Expand it to 96 or 100+ or whatever and then your looking like the college football bowl system where everyone practically makes a bowl game.

I am okay with the NIT. It has history, can still draw big names (remember Kentucky played in it 2 years ago, UCONN this year, etc) and with the final four being at MSG and almost all the games televised on ESPN - it is good exposure. Also - I think its a great idea that regular season conference winners get an auto bid to the NIT. This gives mid-major and lower conference teams a chance at post-season even if they lose in their tourney finals. St. Francis is a good example - our opponent tonight. They won their conference with a 15-3 record, but loss in the tourney finals to Robert Morris - shouldn't they still be awarded some sort of post-season?

I do agree - these other tourneys - CBI, CIT, etc - need to go away. They are nothing but a money grab by organizers.

You play in the NCAA or NIT - that is 100 teams playing in the post-season -that is enough.

so give conference winners an auto bid to the expanded NCAA.
the excitement for these programs would grow ten fold. seriously, we love our Spiders and will watch them play anyone but there's no thrill in a secondary tournament. win the whole thing and you're #69. it's a participation medal. the whole country is focused on the NCAA.

I don't think expansion waters anything down. there are a lot of good teams. and there are like 50 more teams in division 1 then when they expanded to 64 teams. the way the play-in games is set up now is stupid. why are two of the play-in games playing for 11 seeds?

the NIT had it's day. I hope we get to the Garden and win it all. but outside of hard core fans of the teams involved ... nobody cares.

If it was expanded to 96, we still would have missed it, three of the last four years.

unlike coaches, do not want the dance expanded, in fact get rid of the play in games. the weakest conferences just don't get a team in each year. then get rid of conf champs who lose in their tourneys getting an auto to the nit, just take the best teams and play all games in msg like the old days.
