Bryce Golden hits the portal

I understand the donkey reference. Lived in Marsh freshman year in the 90s. No idea how long it had been going at that point. Hadn't thought about that in a long time (since I was a freshman probably.)

edit - it was a few years after your time period listed, so it kept going, it appears.

Back to the thread topic, I don't see any type of list being mentioned for Bryce. Anyone able to find anything? Only thing I found was JMU writer talked about current coach at JMU coached Bryce in AAU, and Mrs. Golden went to Harrisonburg high school.

Right, I mean god forbid he try to reduce the amount of the buyout. 🙄 I suspect he also told Jordan in advance what the deal was and he's been able to look around for other jobs in the meantime, privately.

But even if not, so what? He's a multi-millionaire and still a talented coach who will have plenty of offers. Goodman acts like he will have to go beg on a street corner somewhere.

Agree with all 3 above. Goodman sometimes with the hyperbole. But his biz is reliant on coaches more than ADs, he interacts with coaches more, interviews etc. so he's going to take that angle. Even Bryce knew this was going down, most everyone knew. Those guys weren't held up to be looking on the market, they look for jobs when employed & supposedly "off the market". seems collier did right by school and the other stuff is kinda made up by Goodman.

Also I guess oh no Butler will never get another coach. The Trap theory. They look so bad here they will never attract good candidates or make a good hire. They'll be fine. Heck I could see them going after Mike Rhoades. Mooney no, but I have a hunch his name might come up in media once somewhere, placed by his agent.

I get the relationships players develop with their coaches, and that they are sad/upset when they get fired. But the players are only in school for four or five years (barring another pandemic). Most administrations (but not all obviously) AND THEIR FANS and ALUMS think about the health of their programs long term.

Believe this may relate to renaming buildings as well. Students are there in a very long line of Spiders, but their personal feelings in the 4 or 5 years they are there must dictate long established names. WTF?

Sorry, back to basketball....but this renaming BS chaps me.

13 out of 17 seasons winning 24 or more games?
2 of 4 with less were his last 2.
1 of the other 2 was an NCAA year.

Bah...has seemed like Loyola was in on every single transfer this year.

For real. They are kicking our ass on transfers and regular recruits. How many players do they have now, 29? In fairness, though, supposedly they were in on Quinn. Not sure to what degree.

Does his parents still live relatively close to Richmond? If so maybe they have plenty of FF miles so not an issue. Them and Grant probably hoping they play UR at home. Especially if SpiderK and sure to be enough other fans feeling the same way in attendance if at Robins.:D

Wow, that’s also embarrassing. He chooses the lowly A-10 and it isn’t even with us. I won’t have a hard time rooting against him.
If there were kitchen table discussions on where he should go, it would have been interesting to have been a fly on the wall for that.
