so ... I'm a believer in a bunch of advanced metrics, one being +/-
you can't look at it for an individual game. not only because I can't find any site that posts it, but also because it doesn't mean much sometimes in an individual game. it depends a ton on the guys you're on the floor with. but there are things that happen on the floor where a player has an impact that don't show up in a normal box score. things like communication, help defense (and recovery!), boxing out, "hockey assists", etc.
+/- simply shows how the team performs overall while each player individually is on the floor. and after say ... 19 games ... I think it's meaningful.

in the attached, look at the "Advanced" section and sort by BPM.
GW3 leads but in such few minutes it doesn't mean much.
next 5 are Dusan, DeLonnie, Walz, Beagle and AP. that rings pretty true. (it's a big unsettling that Beagle is our 4th best of our regulars and his BPM is negative, especially with our uninspiring OOC schedule, but it is what it is).

what's shocking to me is how far down the list Tyne and B Artis are.

Tyne and B. Artis are not surprising at all, they use a ton of possessions on offense when they are on the court but don’t actually score, and are easily abused with switching on defense. Best move Mooney has made is playing AP at guard to reduce Tyne minutes.

Good find S-man. I guess I would say I am not surprised with Tyne and B Artis having very negative +/-.

Both are terrible 3 point shooters: Tyne is at 24% and B Artis is at 17% which are the two lowest on the team. For guards in our system being a good 3 point shooter is pretty much a must.

Both are also really bad 2 point shooters: Tyne is at 48% and B Artis is at 28%, the third lowest and lowest on the team. I mean that 17% 3 point rate and 28% 2 point for rate for B Artis might be vying for one of the worst statistically shooting guards in the country.

Ok, so you say fine, these two are PG's and so maybe they are really good at facilitating the offense. But nope, they suck there as well. Tyne is averaging just over 2.3 assists per game, B Artis is at 3.7 assists per game. Both have bad assist to turnover rations as well.

And then we talked about the struggles they both have on defense, being short guards which other teams exploit with our switching defenses.

Mooney has basically tried to bench Tyne several games because of his bad play, but now his only back-up is B Artis, who statistically is actually worse than Tyne out there. B Artis and Tyne actually make Jason Nelson look good in comparison. Bring back Jaynel????

sman u can find individual games box +/- via our live stats feed. For home games. or for some away games that use same program. But other schools use ones like sidearm that are pretty good too but don't produce +/- for some reason.

Here is SLU game. Tyne and Walz were the worst. B Artis was solid this game.
