@ Bona

Too bad we didn't play the whole game with the urgency we played the last 2 minutes with.

I wouldn't call it not playing with urgency the first 38 minutes. At the end, we made 3 straight 3s in about 20 seconds after being cold from 3 most of the night.

We had a chance to move into position for the 2 seed. Instead, we are the 4. Still plenty of basketball left.
Also, we need to win our last 4 and Dayton needs to lose their last 4 just to capture a co-championship. So we're staring at 15 straight years.

What happened to Nathan and Nick? ESPN doesn’t have the minutes distribution up yet.

Nick was off from outside, and they will taking our inside game away. We needed to shoot well from outside, and we didn't. Sometimes, you have to credit the other team. They played well tonight. They have good players just like we do. And, when we rallied at the end, they made their FTs like good teams do.

Me thinks that Schmidt outcoached us for 30 minutes. We had no answers. It’s not the 1st Time he’s done that. They had a week to prepare.Nice.

So, what about when we beat Wisconsin, Rhode island, VCU, and Davidson? Did we out coach them? Or, is it only about coaching when we lose?

Nothing has changed, RICHMOND STILL HAS TO WIN THE CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT TO GET INTO THE NCAA. Can we please join a league where we have a good shot at winning the conference tournament every year? Because we sure as hell have zero chance of ever getting an at-large bid with Mooney.

But then I'm just too excited about the NIT!

You get home games (maybe) with the NIT.

Sorry, but most of our three point attempts were uncontested. BTW Last home game was a 29 point home loss.

Mooney failed to adjust early enough in the second half. In a tough environment, we were not shooting well, but hanging around (to our teams credit). I understand staying with the game plan the first 10 mins of the second half. But when it was clear to all that even though we were getting open shots they were not falling tonight, you have to adjust. The press changed the game and made Bonnie speed up, but it wasn’t applied until around 3 mins to play, too late! It energized us and got Bonnie out of their rhythm. Hopefully our tenured coach learned a lesson tonight.

Even with this loss, I think we are in good shape for a bid. We have to win out now. We should beat GW and UMass. We usually play well against Davidson and should beat them at the RC. Duquesne is the toss up, but if you want to dance you win that game. It’s all in front of us, but I’m disappointed with the lack of in game adjustments tonight by Mooney.

If we’d have won out and taken a couple in the A10 tourney I believe we would have gotten an at large. Certainly that is virtually dead now

A10 is going to get two teams in

Hey when you have open 3s and you suppose to have good shooters and miss, it
is called “not your night”. There were also some ticky tac calls at bad times. I agree
it would be nice to have a 6’4 Gonzo guard. This team though did not give up and
that is the sign of a good team who just had a bad shooting night.

Well said. We had plenty of good looks. And, I thought we made some good adjustments in the 2nd half, and had even better looks, but still could not make enough. We were feeding Grant, they doubled, and we started passing the ball around the perimeter quickly, and making an extra pass to an open guy. Not much you can do when the shots are not falling. You have to keep shooting them. And, I had no issue at all with Blake taking 20 some shots. Most were good ones, and if anyone is going to shoot us back from a double digit deficit, it's Blake. We are 20-7 overall and tied for 3rd at 10-4 IC. And, we still have a good chance to dance. I think we all would take that at the beginning of the year.

Losing to a good team on the road isn't a disaster, it is simply an ill-timed loss.

Of course, St. Bonaventure won the coaching battle. That is not breaking news.

Still think Spiders are a good NIT team, but this game really doesn't change that much as far as NCAA aspirations. Must beat Duquesne (and win out) and make the A-10 final in my opinion to have a shot at getting a bid.

Burton was good overall, but he made 2 very poor (freshman) decisions in the last 4-minutes that hurt.

he took 6 shots. Blake took 22 and was also off. He was 1-10 with 39 seconds left. That’s pretty off from outside too. Our offense clearly stagnates when he chucks like that. It’s a problem.

We only get two bids in our league
Waited too long to make adjustments
Need Sherod to contribute more list goes on..

Wheel of Excuses:
  • Refs
  • Olean is cold
  • Bus ride
  • They had a bye week
  • Unfair admissions policies
  • Malcolm Bernard
  • Bill Lanier
  • They had a bye week
  • Keith Gill
  • No Bojangles in Olean

strongly disagree.

To me this was the only remaining regular season game we could afford to lose (road, quad 2 game). Still gives us a chance to reel off the last 4 and end the season on a hot streak.

But man it hurts anyway. We have a tourney caliber team. These are the games we need to find a way to win.

We are now just like every other team in the state that has to win their tournament. Maybe UVA gets I .

We disagree about ‘good looks’. Most of them were forced/rushed to get over the defender or from 5 feet behind the 3 point line.

I didn’t get to see the game at all, or hear it. By looking at the final stat line, if we have Blake shooting 22 shots and scoring 23 points, we aren’t going to win. It’s a recipe for disaster to only have one guy chucking up all the shots.

Blake didn't play great until the end, but this loss isn't just on him. This was a team loss - missed free throws, missed wide open 3's, poor defense, stagnant ball movement on offense, etc.

Tyler was to the only one who played great. Grant and Jacob played okay but I felt like as the team leaders we needed them to impact the game a little more when Nick and Blake's shots were clearly off. Blake took a ton of shots. I love his confidence though and he can light it up at any time. Nick and Nate were mostly invisible.

Good looks insomuch as he could see the basket. Debatable on whether many of those shots should have been taken.

announcer made the comment several times he did not like our shooting form -- we were not completing our shots before we were heading down the floor for D, sort of like the golf shot with no follow through

Agree. And, if there is any good news from tonight, Davidson beat Rhode Island. Those that think we got out coached, does that mean Rhode Island got out coached, or is that different? We still have a good chance for 2nd if we win out. Also, maybe Davidson can sneak into the top 75, and give us a much needed 3rd quad 1 win. Even if they don't finish there, maybe seeing that 3rd quad 1 win for us now will grab the attention of the committee down the stretch.

I think 14-4 and 24-7 would look pretty good going into the tourney. When we were 5-3 and 15-6, I think most on here would have felt winning 9 out of our last 10 would have been an impressive task, and that can still happen.

I didn't notice much difference in our form. We were just off. Probably easy for an announcer to say or think that when we were missing.

So if UR, SBU, & URI all end up 14-4, all 1-1 head to head, what are the seeds?

URI still gets a crack at Dayton. If that’s a win, I think they would get the tiebreaker by virtue of win over highest ranking common opponent

Duquesne has a better NET than Bona. We needed to win this one. We could afford to lose that one.

But if they all got to 14-4 by URI losing to Dayton, and the other two winning out...

I honestly do not know how much it gets affected, but Duquesne lose today and if they lose to UR in final game, along with Bona win over UR today could reverse the NET, maybe? far more a question than a statement on my part, does anyone know?
