Beat Dayton

Smith being hurt will help us. Better take advantage of it. Surprised we are only down 8 having made zero threes.
Dayton point guard being out plus a ton more experience helped win this game. Much closer to a team win with great effort by Goose on D and great effort on both ends of the floor by MATT GRACE. Plus a surprising made 3 by Wilson. Nice work Spiders.

Anyone know what we did for the last 12 minutes defensively that shut down Dayton? They only scored 12 points (or 9 if you don't count the garbage bucket at the end) in the final 12 minutes.

Our centers lead them the way, but a lot of people contributed.

1. Burton 16 points on 5 for 10 shooting and 6-6 free throws. He look great driving to the basket.
2. Gilyard, despite off shooting night, 5 assist, 4 steals, only one turnover, great defense and handle the ball well on offense.
3. Sherod 2-3 shoot in limited minutes
4. Goose, great defense
5. Wilson, important 3 point shot with the game on the line.

I found the tweet of the day 🤣
Pretty silly tweet. As if we were suppose to be celebrating the season before the last couple of games. If this effort and team management were happening in Dec./ January we wouldnt need a miracle to make the tournament.
ExtendMooney lol. We lose tomorrow and, though these two games were fun, it is still a disappointing season.

Wish that all weather fan lady whose tweet was posted earlier would come on here & defend the last 11 years. She won't because she can't. She comes out of the woodwork today at an opportune time.

I think folks have different ideas of what it means to be a fan. You can certainly be a fan of the team and not the coach.
Totally agree. Noone has been more critical of our program than me but I love the school, the kids and the game. I don't think Mooney is a terrible coach, I just believe we can do better. If he wasn't so intolerant of change and devoid of responsibility, I wouldn't feel as strongly as I do. With that said, let's go win this thing.

I guess a divided fan base is a good thing???? Does she really think she is helping with a comment like that??
Probably helping just as much as all the negative talk this season helped. Which is to say, not much.

Fans gonna fan.

That's a manifestation of human behavior. It's all natural, expected, & good.

One thing that probably needs to be pointed out is that some seem to want to label dissent as negative if it gets in the way of facts, stats, and reality. There is no dismissing the latter, and that's a better place to land.

Well since Mooney has already saved his job... screw it, might as well win the next one too
We all want to win tomorrow. It will be amazing!! But the idea that winning two big games negates all of the mediocrity and let downs of 11 seasons without much success is ludicrous.
And that these two victories have ‘saved his job” is just as ludicrous. Its two games. If we lose tomorrow, we are in the same position we were in last week… on the outside looking in. Oh wow, one A10 final in 11 seasons with 4 players who have played in CBB for 6 years. What a coaching job!!
But hey, I want them to win tomorrow as much as anyone, and if we do, then talk of a short extension is certainly understandable.

Hey I want what’s best for the program, and at the end of the day this run is more on the players and not on Mooney. The most experienced hoops team in NCAA history decided to put the hammer down in the tourney and so far it’s working. I see players taking this matter into their own hands.

I am still entrenched in the move on from Mooney camp, no matter how far we make it this month. If he makes this run next year with a bunch of nobodies then I’ll recognize Mooney for the job he’s done.
