Creative and something does need to change

This makes too much sense not to do. I have heard this talked about before, but this article goes a great job explaining and illustrating.

The article does use this past season as an example and gives the rose colored glasses people another unneeded excuse for this year’s embarrassing results (UR had the hardest conference schedule). The conference record may well have looked “ok” if UR only played the bottom 7 in the league for the “second half” of the conference season.

Interesting proposal. It of course changes the interest level for season ticket buyers not knowing who they’ll get to see the back half of the conference schedule. Also has the potential of widening the gap between the haves and have nots.

It makes some sense a team like UR would have hardest in conf schedule. When u r near the bottom u r always playing teams ranked above u. And for us 2 annual against VCU who is always ranked top or near it. Good thing for us…if we could ever beat them more than 25%.

A vcu or goo moos similarly hurt last season because they can’t play themselves twice & that’s 2 less games automatically vs strong opponents.

The proposal is certainly worth considering and evaluating further. My feeling is it’s designed to hit a floor with bids not the ceiling. I don’t like to eliminate ceilings. The ceiling comes from ooc & if we’re doing that right as a league we’re ok. I guess that article is kind of saying the ooc is a lost cause but I’m not.

This is pro sports just go to a pro scheduling model. Will never happen but one can wish.

I took a peak at the SLU board after posting about their transfers. They did not seem too excited about their 4 transfers so far. Not seeing any home runs in the portal for the A10 so far, but that is the life of the mid major these days.

SDSU had one of the biggest wins in mid major land so far. Star RS freshman Magoon Gwath portalled, big offers from Kentucky and Michigan - but ended up taking less to stay at SDSU. So far. I have seen this one play out with Lamont Butler where it is a negotiation ploy, so who knows.

I'm sure he'll get paid well, but Minnesota is almost always bottom of the Big 10.
not loving his choice. saw he was visiting Ohio State.

Could be similar to what Dji did. Go to a team where he could start or get good minutes, but that likely means a bottom team in your conference.

Durkin is a sophomore now right? Wonder if his agent advised him for a move to a lesser school in the P5. If he moves to the Buckeyes and struggles there’s not a lot of money to be had after that. If he stars for Minnesota this season (even if they suck) he’s got a huge payday in store from just about any school in the country.

I don’t really know how it all works, just seems like the soul is being sucked out of the sport.

The money out there is crazy. I could definitely see, if a big school like OSU with money to spend wanted a guy, it would hard to turn down a lot of money, even if it meant lesser time. But, maybe Minn offered good enough money combined with playing time.

Don’t worry ply, no one knows. In addition, there is no soul in the new world of college basketball. It is more like a card game where after every season the players are shuffled and dealt. Mercenary basketball.

There are only two things I feel strongly about. (1) The Ivy League did the right thing. (2) Mooney can’t coach and win in the new D1.

100%. I think OSU probably offered more, but I bet there is more money transferring there from Minny than Davidson.
