Around the A-10: 2024–25 Edition

Nova will be bad until they move on from Neptune
Definitely a sad state of affairs. Listened to the game and what was even sadder is how pumped up Hawk Hill was and the fact that nothing like that happens in VA. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a regional battle between mid-majors and a P5 team.

Kenpom has us in last place now. Would certainly be interesting to go first to worst. I have hope that will not happen

Tonight:

St. Bonaventure (-2.5) at Florida Gulf Coast
Richmond (+1.5) at Charlotte
Ball State at Dayton (-16.5)
Central Michigan at George Mason (-14.5)
Merrimack at VCU (-16.5)
UMass (+1.5) vs. Louisiana Tech (neutral site)

not sure how many tough games have been on the schedule, but so far the A10 is off to a strong 29-8 start to the season.

Not a great night for a10. Dagger being goo moos going down w near buzzer beater.

A-10 goes 2–2 on the night.

Wins
- Loyola 73, Princeton 68 - Nice road win for the Ramblers.
- St. Joe's 86, Penn 69 - No letdown after beating Villanova on Tuesday.

Losses
- DePaul 84, Duquesne 58 - The Dukes hung with the Demons for most of the first half, but then it totally fell apart.
- Manhattan 78, Fordham 76 - Not as close as the final score appears, as the Rams were down 13 with under a minute to go and then started draining threes including one at the buzzer to set the final margin.

? Loyola not in the A-10.

OT unkind to the A-10 today…besides us, Mason lost to ECU in 2OT and UMass just fell to Hofstra in OT. (UMass football also lost in OT today to Liberty.)

A-10 goes 2–1 tonight:

- Duquesne remains winless in losing a buy game to Milwaukee, 80–74.
- Fordham rolls over D-II Georgian Court, 101–61.
- Loyola survives to remain perfect with a 76–72 win over Southern Utah.

FYI ... 4-0 LaSalle is in a tight day game down 56-54 to UC San Diego with 5:35 left in the Boardwalk Battle MTE down in Daytona FL (a Gazelle Group MTE).

HUGE win for St. Joe's, pulling out a 78–77 win over Texas Tech after giving up a 15-point lead late in the first half and a 10-point halftime lead.

Of course, there was also the VCU loss while La Salle took one on the chin to UC San Diego in its first-year of postseason eligibility following their transition from D-II.

I thought they lost to the Toreros. And couldn’t figure out why they were emphasizing the UC…

Yeah, San Diego is a private school, not a UC. Toreros vs Tritons.

I spent a summer working at UCSD 25 years ago. There were D-III at the time, on the verge of moving up the ladder to D-II. They don't have football, but are a very solid academic school with over 30k undergrads.

The A10 appears to be going in a downward trajectory. Sure, we’re going to lose games, but we should
win some. Maybe time for a new commissioner??
