Against Wake

Yes, taking all efforts to ignore Moon's coaching. Great job by the players. Mooney awake for once this seaon. Disgusting that he backed into to beating out Tarrant. Did Tarrant even come to any of these games??

This team has stretches of playing well, but I’m not saying it’s coming back together when we lost to Hampton by 20 points a week ago. Plus, we will never be at the level we want when Mooney discourages rebounding and our defense doesn’t tighten things up more. Also, keep in mind this Wake Forest team lost to Houston Baptist and St Joes by 20. Wake is awful this year. I just want to see us have some good player development from Cayo, Wojick, and Sal so our next coach has a good foundation to build off of. With that said, I’m very proud of our players! They are leaving it all on the floor and have some very pretty ball movement at times.

If you want a good read, follow the Wake thread on this game. It sounds very similar to another forum board I know ;)

Thanks. LOL at these on-point comments .....

"Got to love that Danny Manning zone offense. Every one stand around the perimeter, no movement, little ball movement and jack up a three. Nevermind the fact that's what the defense wants you to do."

"Pretty obvious we have more natural talent than our opponent, but they are far more organized and have some idea of what they want to do on both ends of the court."

'We have zero idea what to do on offense.'

"You have to wonder how bad this team has to play to get Danny fired. I certainly don't see any fear or panic on the part of the team or staff"

Wake was certainly not impressive. Childress, Brown and Mucus were the only three decent players. Some of the rest were athletic, but not basketball players. They will be lucky to win a game in the ACC. It will be a long season for Deacon fans too.

I like this line from their boards:

"Enough turnovers to open a bakery."

Let's not say we're going to win 20 games in a row because we've turned a corner. While we appear to be playing better, let's look at who we've been playing.

Georgetown has talent, but is still trying to gel. We couldn't get it done there.

Wake has similar issues we have, and have had an era of suckitude ever since Skip Prosser passed. Here's an article written by a Wake blogger that would have been written by any of us after a soul crushing loss.

Next up is Coppin St, which would have trouble beating Hampden-Sydney. Let's not let a few wins mask the underlying issue known as Chris Mooney. He must leave campus, and he must do it after the season.

I watched R-MC go to 9-0 last night. Win or no win for the Spiders, I'm not stepping foot in the RC until CM is sacked.
So here's what missed: a very entertaining game, some phenomenal passing, one of the best guards we've had in quite some time with JG, Grant making amazing moves around the basket, a ROY candidate in Jake Wojcik, and Cayo becoming a beast. Go Spiders!

It matters not to me. Seeing Mooney on the sidelines is it's own special brand of repellent for me. I'll gladly come back to the RC when he is gone, sooner the better.

It's a shame so many on here punish the student athletes for a decision beyond their control. They're working their butts off and deserve our support. I'll continue to cheer them loudly, shout at the refs, and create some nice family memories at the RC.

No more punishment than what Mooney is doing coaching them. Poor Bryce S, 1 minute and maybe 1 TO but yanked and yelled at. That's right Mooney, take it out on the kid for getting blown out by Hampton, at home no less.

I thought that was pretty harsh and he also lit into Grace pretty well last night. However, most coaches get pretty volatile at one point or another. Bryce will get his shot again.

Back to my original point. I'll just never understand not supporting your team and rooting for failure of that team - and subsequently the student athletes - because you don't like the coach. Just a difference of opinion on this point.

I am with you SpiderPride.....no matter what, the players need our support.

I'm not rooting against the kids. I'm doing the only thing I can do at this point to voice my opinion on our program leadership. Perhaps if more of us had done this sooner, we'd have a new coach by now.

BTW, as a former Spider athlete, I know first hand what it is like to play for a bad coach, and I appreciate whatever the fans think they need to do to make a coaching change happen.

I totally understand how you feel Keefusb, but it still is having a negative impact on the guys. It must always be about the players!!!

Please. How is it having a negative impact?

Fans not showing up to games has an obvious negative impact on players. No matter the sport you are more energized when there is electricity in the crowd and less so when there aren't many people there.

He has every right to not attend games on principle. It isn't what I would do but I respect his decision.

If you went to a restaurant and continued to have a bad experience -- overcooked steak on one visit, then raw chicken on the next visit, would you keep going back and giving them your money?

If I was playing for a coach like CM, I would completely understand the position of the fans, and would hope that their actions (boycotting games, etc.) would bring about a quick and decisive coaching change. Give the players some credit, they know what the problem is, who is responsible, and what the remedy for the problem is. The kids are not stupid.
