Absolutely pathetic garbage

LI Spider - you seem to have mistaken criticism for hate.

If your child went to UR and was getting C’s and D’s, would you tell them “wow great job I love you so much” or would you have to talk to them and help them do what they need to figure it out and turn things around. Blindly following and praising someone/something is doing them a great disservice
Plus my big complaint is with the people that are paid a lot of money to produce. They aren’t delivering

If there was any sincere effort to correct the program’s deficiencies, I doubt you’d see the rampant criticism. It’s just painful to be totally resistant to change.

Exactly - if what you are doing is not working - do something different!

Yet, the University preaches change in every other aspect of itself including changing the names of buildings.

Guys, to be clear, I’m not arguing about making changes and improving. That’s clearly needed for our program. I also have hopes of becoming a powerhouse program over time.
What I’m saying is the ranting is not necessary and very immature. Did you all read Plydoggs post last night? This was one example but there were many others of unacceptable behavior.
Ill continue to cheer for this team and root that they turn it around — if you question whether you can do that I would suggest you stop watching.

I'll watch when available on TV or listen to radio but I have stopped giving to the University and attending in person. It will remain that way until Mooney is gone. And to be honest, I'm dangerously close to taking your advice and walking away entirely. They will find new fans.

The issue @ UR is deeper than just the head coach. Yea, he's a major issue, but until the school adjusts it's expectations for on the field/court success, nothing will improve. Knowing that fans care more about winning than the administration makes it very difficult to be a fan. Accountability doesn't exist @ Richmond.

LI, not sure you have been watching closely the last 7 or 8 years, but this is a slow build up of mooniocrity, compounded by hardt talking a big game and then either losing interest or getting a talking to by PQ. We have reached a point of continuing malpractice, and if a change is made and Hardt is in charge it could be 4 to 5 more years. Many of us are getting old. Mooney is sucking the life out of the program game by game, week by week, year by year.

Referring to my post last night (and there were many of them - I made sure to be the last post of the night on every thread)…I’ve made maybe 1,000 or so of them those are the ones I’m most proud of. Yeah, they were profane, but they were exactly what I thought and not sugar coated by my love of spider basketball

You guys are the worst fans ever. I joined this board as I thought it was cool that a group shared my passion for this team and program, especially given our relative size. I was wrong.
Get a different hobby, fellas.
Dude you obviously havent been a fan too long. The frustration of year after year disappointment and mediocrity havent hit you yet. Give it time.

Why would you want to buy this group a beer? To complain about about the team, players, coach, AD, facilities, etc.?
You arent worth responding to Long Island Spider. You are as green a fan as they come while we are 5 tour battle tested veterans.

give me a break… we are fans expressing disappointment on a message board. No one else cares about this but us. And do you know how long this disappointment has been going on and how deep it is?? Only a few years ago there was a FIRE MOONEY billboard on I-95. There is real passion in this fan base and that is great and with passion comes frustration and disappointment when the level of success pretty much never reaches expectations.

Most of us cheer for this team as a way to support a university that has given us so much. I want this team to win as badly as anybody but not at the expense of remembering why we are cheering for them. They are college students and not professionals, and there is a chance some of them read this board. Grow up.
All this university gives me anymore is agita.

Whew, your fully-grown advice pulled us off the edge of the cliff just in time!

How in the actual hell did we blow that game? This team has the mental fortitude of a three-year-old child. Why do we waste our time caring about this crap? Pathetic.
As bad as we feel with the similarity of our losses, imagine being a fan of Carolina football this morning

I watched that choke of a choke in the last 2 minutes. Reminds me of basketball runs when a team goes on a 14-2 run against our favorite team.

obviously Mooney should be fired if we don’t make the tourney this year.
After back to back twenty loss seasons a few years ago, no conference championships, and no NCAA appearances since our last one a lifetime ago, I'd say it's overdue.

His job is a job we all dream of. Accountability absent.

Why?

We have already met our goal of “competing for championships” by the Administration’s definition.

Which is “being eligible for the A-10 and NCAA Championships at the start of the first game”.

That actually seems to be true, and is root of the problem.

Glad you just started following the Spiders. We will see how you feel once you become more familiar with the athletic programs here.

No, I think they’ve shown that they’re as opposed to changing names as they are to changing coaches.

Umm, they're all like 24 so we can skip the college student crap with this group.

I think they’ll actually pull the trigger on firing Mooney this off-season. Realistically they could not have fired him after the past 2 seasons. You were kidding yourself if you thought that might happen. It might have made sense to fire him after the 2019 season when Golden and Gilyard were sophomores with Blake coming in, but they had to give Mooney a shot with that core and it obviously hasn’t worked.

I know everyone is quick to trash Hardt but now it is OBVIOUSLY apparent (kudos to the longtime anti Mooney’rs, you were right) that Mooney’s system doesn’t work. He’s not locked in as our coach for so many more years like in the past so I think this off-season we should have legitimate optimism that a change might be made.

I wish you were right.

Mooney should have been fired after the ‘15-16 season when his team underperformed.

The issue is everyone who’s been in a position of leadership at UR hasn’t given a crap about anything but cashing their fat paycheck.

The main donor is seemly best buds with Mooney. The last few ADs have been garbage. One was barely ever at Richmond. He spent most of his time living in NOVA. Hardt has hardly been heard from during his few years.

The past President was a great guy, but didn’t seem to care much about athletics. It will all come down to the new president. Does he care about athletics? And will he stand up to Queally?

Hard to hear from an AD whose mouth is full of meat and potatoes or he's hanging over the side of his sail boat throwing it up.

Seems you haven't been around long enough to see how it's done. This team will win 18-19 games, be top 5 in conference, and lose in 2nd round of A-10 tournament. Just like most years, so what changes after this season?
