Is anyone else incensed about the cheap shot taken by NDSU on David Jones in last year's playoff game? The NDSU player clearly launched himself at Jones. He led with his helmet directly at David's arm. Of course, Jones' arm was broken. It wrecked his arm and his senior year.

I know David personally and can tell you that he is just as wonderful of a person off the field as he is a good of a football player on the field. He has never complained about his injury and only posts messages of encouragement and overcoming adversity. I don't think he sees his injury as bad luck but as another obstacle to overcome. I wish him the best of luck in his life and hope he has an opportunity to pursue his dreams in the NFL.

My beef is mostly with the referees in the post season. I have gotten the sense that refs call one game in the regular season and call another game in the post season. The "let them play" attitude, without calling obvious fouls in the post season leads to unnecessary injuries. It also hurts teams that are taught not to commit penalties.

Were you in a coma for the past 10 months? The timing here seems a little off.

Does anybody have any insight or perspective if David will have an opportunity in the NFL? Has there been interest?

2017 NFL DRAFT

As of Monday, he was rated as the #8 Free Safety prospect for the 2017 NFL draft by CBS Sports.
Not sure how his recent injury might impact his prospects.

Could have sworn JOC had a piece that mentioned scouts were watching and believed to be same level of interest as with Justin Rogers (projected mid-late round pick).

Jones, now a 6-foot-3, 210-pound redshirt senior safety, may go as high as the third round in April’s NFL draft. [...]

Chris Stewart, Richmond’s director of strength and conditioning since 2009, deals with NFL scouts as they evaluate UR players. He gauges the interest in Jones so far being about the same as that received by former UR cornerback Justin Rogers (seventh-round selection in 2010) and safety Cooper Taylor (fifth-round selection in 2013).

Listening to Coach Rocco on Spider Sportsline. He said that David Jones was going to have another, larger plate inserted into his wrist. He said he there was a stress fracture along the original plate. He said that David gave so much. Coach Rocco sounded pained about the entire situation.
