Look at http://www.bracketmatrix.com/ a collection of essentially everyone who tries to predict the bracket on the internet. There are 59 predictions, guess how many predicted Tulsa would be in? Zero, none, nobody. Because there is absolutely no reason they should have had a bid.
Tulsa: 0/59
Vanderbilt: 19/59
Syracuse: 24/59
Temple: 37/59
Michigan: 42/59
Saint Bonaventure: 52/59
It is completely inexcusable. There is absolutely no way Tulsa should have received a bid. There is nothing in the history of the NCAA tournament that even hints that they should have received a bid. It is criminal.
They must've liked Tulsa's KenPom number to take them over the Bonnies...
Bonny beat St. Joe's and Dayton
Tulsa beat Wichita, UConn, Cincy, SMU, Temple and Iona
Yes, he is an Oklahoma State guy. Ergo .... Tulsa. OSCChairman of NCAA selection committee is from Oklahoma.
Don't let those names fool you. They beat Wichita State during their 4 game losing streak without Van Vleet. Wichita State sucked during that stretch. Temple and Iona were not great, certainly much worse than Dayton and Saint Joes. There are a ton of reasons literally nobody in the world thought Tulsa would get a bid. They don't deserve one.
Well all of those "names" (with the exception of SMU, which was ineligible) made the NCAA tournament.
And Bonny beat Dayton during that 11-day stretch when the lost 3 of 4 and beat SLU in OT. They sucked then.
It does prove that you just need to schedule the tough teams. Doesn't matter if you win or not. We had a very good OCC as it turns out, but lost the easy away games and home games. VDU didn't win anything OCC but scheduled tough teams.Tulsa was a complete surprise to me too, but when comparing to St Bonny's resume not too different. The NCAA A10 prejudice doesn't look like it will go away anytime soon when compared to the 5/6. Even the AAC seems to get more respect.
Bonny beat some very good A10 teams but I guess the NCAA feels that don't count for much. VCU did in conference the same as Bonny but their OOC was more impressive in not who they beat, but who they lost to. Duke, Wiscy, Fla St., GTech and Cinny. I mean VCU from past tourny history is kind of committee favorite on getting the nod over an equal school IMO.
That RPI the committee supposedly uses seems to get throw out the window at times when going against the power schools for the A10. I feel that's why UR should schedule as many 5/6 schools as possible every year. Forget trying to work out some bizarre schedule that gives you the best chance to get your RPI high. Play the better schools and beat their ass or possibly even lose to them and do enough in conference.
He also owes the first job of his career to the Tulsa AD.Yes, he is an Oklahoma State guy. Ergo .... Tulsa. OSC

Of course not.He also owes the first job of his career to the Tulsa AD.
Not that that means anything...
I know I have been jumped on all year for saying the A-10 was weak this year, but I saw them all play at least once and many in person. I also saw UVA play 7 games at home and I could tell that only Dayton, St Joe and GW had the talent to even compete on an a mid to low level in the ACC. Not sure what happened to GW, they certainly have the individual talent. After I posted sbove, I read what you had already posted in another thread stating the same with VCU. And I would say you're right on the A10 being weak at least in the committee eyes, cause beating fellow A10 competitors doesn't seem to count for squat. Tonight proved that.
K, agree. St Joe's was the best team in the A10. Moreover, IMHO only St Joe's and GW have the talent of a mid level ACC school. The rest of the A10 could not compete on a nightly basis. It seems a lot of us got caught up inside the conference and didn't see a good live comparison to go by. It's hard to tell on TV. In my opinion, St Joes was the best I saw all year in the A-10.
I think it's hard to tell. RPI is supposed to normalize for level of competition, at least in theory. That's why it exists in large part. A10 beat a lot of good competition ooc, feels a bit unfair to penalize teams in conference for slugging it out, that's what happens in the P5.I know I have been jumped on all year for saying the A-10 was weak this year, but I saw them all play at least once and many in person. Wow that's bad. Guess Houston Baptist took our spot.
