Rhoades will probably win A10 Coach of the Year, but the job Schmidt did, after losing so much from last year's team, deserves some consideration.
True, the admissions department does not understand marketing or brand recognition. They only know SAT, ACT and quotas.
In think admissions makes reasonably decent accommodations for men’s basketball based on what Ive heard. Not bottom basement, but reasonable.
We have won before with tough academic standards. Also, I think there is evidence that admissions may be working more with the athletic department. We have a JUCO transfer on the football team. That said, I don’t want to be a bottom feeder program with no academic requirements like VCU, but I think there is real value to winning for the University. It is possible to have higher academic standards and win. We just need the right coach.
If academics are easier now why do we suck? Did Tarrant have tougher standards? Did he win? It’s the effing coach!
My guess is he will stay there until he hangs it up and let his son take over the HC job.
